Baseball inspires a true generosity
from Yankees fan and Street Roots
vendor Desmond Hardison. Desmond sells
the paper outside the Green Zebra
Grocery on Lombard Street in North
Portland, where the organization Friends
of Baseball was holding its Opening Day
celebration.
Friends of Baseball is a Portland group
that provides in-kind goods and services to
help disadvantaged youth play the game. It
also partners with organizations across the
region to support youth involvement and
community engagement in the sport.
Desmond donated the proceeds from his
day’s Street Roots paper sales to the
organization.
