♦ street roots Jan. 6, 2012 Their favorite Little Boy By Gerald A. McBreen His father told him it was time to go. The hour of separation had arrived. The divorce gavel fell And their favorite little boy Marched off with this mother in tow The Beginning of the End By Valerie This emotion that is within It feels like sin A lot going through me like water My love for you is starting to fade As my heart is torn into a million pieces The dark hole within has soon grown much more Imagine a pain going through you that you never felt before Can’t believe that this is happening again This is the beginning of the end As he left he saluted his faithful toys Bidding them to wait for his return Then pressing his lips on top of his fist He blew them each a kiss. Little toy Batman is showing his wear Yet proud and loyal he keeps Battle-scarred GI Joe stands by his jeep His rifle webbed in his grip Is there really such a thing as “true love”? Is there even a thing called love? Despite what I felt from above The darkness is rising from below As the tear runs down my face Each tear leaves a scar My emotion towards you is unreachable Like it can’t be controlled It is harder to go through this Why dream if it isn’t coming true? Why live if nothing to live for? Faithful they are to their favorite little boy Awaiting his laughter and his joy Batman’s cape flung with a flair And GI Joe still standing there They wonder in the dust of that closed off room Whatever became of their favorite little boy Since he pressed his lips on top of his fist And blew them each a kiss. As mind and body go blank There is at least something to thank Being hurt so many times Starting to get used to its demands Why put pain onto it if it is already there Such tragic lives No values and meaning Wish things would go back to the way they were Untitled By Ronald Sanford Foreclosures, lack of work The machine of outsourcing is producing results. But don’t you judge. You may be next, groping your way through an urban jungle. Haughty eyes have no place when your blind to me. Cast an insult and I’ll smile back. Save the aversions, the perversions, the presumptions, the assumptions. A nowhere person keeps the change And so the glory of the world passes away ffW i tJ . i J m Answers on page 6 By Cole Merkel Crossword Across 1. Pool shade 5. Kindergarten disrupters 10.
