wagon. If you want to buy someone a gift this season,
consider something green: a plant, a potted herb, a tree,
some seeds, even a cabbage or just plain old food.
Everyone loves food!
Break it down. What is good for recycled boxes is
good for your life as well this late October: lean and
out of the way. Life is better distilled. So are
potatoes, which, come to think of it, are good
mashed, too.
Sagittarius (Nov. 23-Dec. 23) If you are up to
the challenge, try pitching a tent at Occupy Portland’s site
for a night. Consider bringing an umbrella and a home
made sign. Walk or stand for a while and talk to people.
Either way, bring your children if you have them, and show
the world that things need to change, for the better, for the
long haul, for all of us.
Capricorn (Dec. 24-Jan. 19) Soup Can is
remembering back to a corner market on California and
28th Street circa 1976 where, for a nickel, you could buy
little wax soda bottles that had real colored liquid inside.
The most enchanting treat was a Chinese candy that had
paper made out of rice so you could pop the whole thing,
wrapper and all, right into your mouth! Don’t waste your
time trying to unwrap the mysteries of life. Just take a big
bite and enjoy!
going to be those who want to pounce on something that’s
not quite right and kill it. There are many-more out there
who are willing and eager to care for and caress those who
need a little tenderness. Just show your love and ask for
trust and be willing to give others the benefit of the doubt.
Aquarius (Jan. 20-Feb. 19) Get off the stuff
Scorpio (Oct. 24-Nov. 22)
Pisces (Feb. 20-March 20) So the quaint sign
said, “Apple pie without the cheese is like a kiss without
a squeeze.” “Yuck,” said a lil’ Soup Can. “Who’d want tq
eat cheese with apple pie?” Come to find out it’s
delicious. Be willing to try something new these next
couple of weeks. You might be surprised at how good it
Cancer (June 22-July 22) Often when we realize
just how hard we are on ourselves, we then see how much
we expect of everyone else, as well. Give yourself and
others a break this autumn. Take a breath. Relax. It’s a
good time to let things go fallow for awhile.
Leo (July 23-Aug. 23) It might be time for a couple
mouse traps. Possibly it’s even time for a rat trap. Get both
sizes and try out the smaller first; If you don’t catch ■

re-use, recycle” can mean reducing the wasted energy,
re-using your brain space and recycling your time into new Virgo (Aug. 24-Sept. 22) Is it Frankenstein’s
things — and November is going to present a lot of new
Monster or Dr. Frankenstein himself that scares you?,
things for you.
Check out Mary Shelley’s “Frankenstein,” or, “The Modern
Prometheus” and give it a good read. The gothic novel was

Taurus (April 21-May 20) Stone soup. Get
together with friends and add something to the pot. Don’t
forget the rock (preferably rinsed off) for starters. BYOC

steamy night!

comes again every Halloween!
Libra (Sept. 23-Oct. 23) We know more about
space than we do about our oceans. How much do you
know about what, you put into your body? (Which, by the
way, is made up primarily of water) Internally and externally,
plastic is a killer. Go plastic-free this November!
