It was a really fun experience. I’m hoping we can figure out some way that they can continue shooting and continue being able to take pride in their pictures somewhere. Unfortunately, in a digital world you’re required to have access to a computer and some more technology, which they don’t have. I think it would be terrific if we could work something out and maintain their interest in photography. Most of the time, photographers don’t get to hang out with each other. We’re all out there individually, doing our own thing separately. And when you end up in a place where everybody’s trying to give at the same time, it goes from being competitive to being mutually supportive. That, for us, was a really wonderful experience. We got to meet a lot of great people, and I just felt really happy to be a part of it. R.F.: Do you think this exhibition will affect how Scotland sees its homeless population? D.B.: Nothing that we do changes millions of people overnight You have to « be realistic about i t The coolest thing that happens is one person really feels a change, because that will affect other people. You start small and let it grow. We don’t go out and feel like we’ve totally changed the world, but the littlest changes affecting the fewest number of people will always have the greatest impact in the end. This kind of experience opens you up to a level of engagement It humanizes people.
