A large group of interested Butte Falls area
residents showed up for handgun training in late
June. Some had not fired a weapon before and
others had not done so for some time. All of
them quickly came to a most satisfactory level of
proficiency in both safely handing a handgun,
loading and unloading and in firing it effectively
(quickly, safely, and accurately). Many
commented that this thing was actually a lot of
fun! Which it most certainly is even though it has
a very serious side to it. So, congratulations all
around.

I have been asked by a number ofpeople if it IHGFEDCBA
would be possible for them to Ere a selection of
different kinds and calibers of up-to-date
handguns so that they can become familiar
enough with the advantages and disadvantages of
each and bow these tools have changed
recently to make a responsible decision
concerning what to obtain for themselves at some
time in the future. It is also a lot cheaper to know
ahead of time whether a particular lire arm is right
for you BEFORE you buy it, than having to
discover your mistakes AFTER you spend your
money. So, if enough people contact me at865-
3935to make the effort worth while, both Hugh
Simpson and I will arrange for you to become
familiar with the care, feeding, and the safe, quick,
and accurate firing of a wide selection of
handguns currently available on the market as
new guns and some golden oldies that you can
find on the used market We are willing to do
some preliminary training in safe and effective
handling of handguns in general for those who
need it, before we drag out the cannons. We will
provide hearing and eye protection, targets,
ammunition and fire arms. You provide $25.00
to cover costs and we are good to go. By the way,
we are still taking donations for the Blanche
