LOOK IN THE DECEMBER BULLETIN FOR MORE DETAILS. > i THE “JOHNNY LAW ” REPORT (November, 2002) It’s difficult to imagine that I don’t have much to talk about, but this is one of those times. Aside from police work, by the time you see this report, my younger daughter will have gotten married in Maui. Of course, I must attend. So, I’m here today and gone to Maui. It’s a tough life, but somebody has to go there. I just hope that if and when my older daughter ever decides to get married that she picks a more convenient location. Now, let’s deal with police work. Parents are asked to ensure that their children wear helmets when riding bicycles. Everyone is asked to maintain better control over their dogs. Too many of them are running unleashed around town both day and night. Dog licenses may be purchased at Town Hall. Returning to fun stuff, by the time you read this report the World Series will be over. Hurray for both the Angels and the Giants. Nothing against them, but it’s nice to see an American League team in it besides the Yankees, especially a team thai has never been there before. j-hn Lawson Cl of Police If April showers bring May flowers what do May flowers bring? Pilgrims! HAUNTED HOUSE...2002I! OUR HAUNTED HOUSE AND DINNER THIS YEAR WAS A SUCCESS. THE FRIENDS OF THE LIBRARY AND THE BUTTE FALLS SCHOLARSHIP COMMITTEE DID AN EXCELLENT JOB ON THE DINNER. THANK YOU!! I WANT TO PERSONALLY THANK ALL THE ACTIVE CLUB MEMBERS AND ALL THE VOLUNTEERS, ESPECIALLY KENT RADER, WHO HELPED MAKE THE HAUNTED HOUSE SO CREATIVE AND FUN THIS YEAR. I DO HOPE WE SCARED YOU, AS THIS WAS THE INTENT!! ON A MORE SERIOUS NOTE, THIS YEAR, AS WAS THE SAME LAST YEAR, WE HAD A HANDFUL OF KIDS WHO WERE NOT ON THEIR BEST BEHAVIOR. WE HAD KIDS PUSHING, HITTING, KICKING AND YELLING OBSCENITIES AT USI THIS IS NOT ACCEPTABLE BEHAVIORII WE TRY TO ESCORT THEM OUT THE DOOR AND TELL THEM THEY ARE NOT WELCOME BACK NEXT YEAR. ALSO, WE HAD ALL OF OUR GLOW IN THE DARK EYE BALLS STOLEN FROM THE ‘TOUCH TABLE’ II WE WOULD APPRECIATE THEM BEING RETURNED. WE DO NOT PUT OUR STUFF OUT SO SOMEONE CAN STEAL ITII THE ACTIVE CLUB MEMBERS HAVE DECIDED TO HOST THE HAUNTED HOUSE AGAIN NEXT YEAR, BUT IF WE HAVE ANY OF THE ’ PROBLEMS THAT l*VE JUST MENTIONED, NEXT YEAR WILL BE OUR LAST YEARII THE MEMBERS AND VOLUNTEERS PUT IN MANY HOURS CREATING AND WORKING THIS EVENT FOR YOUR ENJOYMENT AND WE FEEL SAD AND DISAPPOINTED THAT A FEW TROUBLE MAKERS' CAN RUIN IT FOR EVERYONE. WE ARE NOT THERE FOR SOMEONE TO TAKE OUT THEIR AGGRESSIONS ON. WE TRULY HOPE NEXT YEAR WILL BE BETTER. LORI PAXTON ACTIVE CLUB PRESIDENT Fire season is still in effect, and no open burning Is allowed. The industrial fire precaution level (IFPL) dropped to a one for the Cascade side of, the forest, which allows industrial chain saw use, with an arrester on the saw and fire tools handy. Personal use restrictions have been lifted, and campfires are allowed. Use common sense; have fire tools with you, clear the area around your campfire of leaves, duff and debris, keep the flame lengths small, and NEVER leave a fire unattended. When departing the campsite at any time, make sure that the fire Is dead out Please be extra careful with fire now, as the lower temperatures can give the illusion of wetter fire conditions. Fire conditions are still high. We have had one runaway campfire on the zone almost every day since hunting season began. Fire conditions and restrictions are changing every day. Please call the Butte Falls Ranger District at 541-865*2700, or the Prospect Ranger District at 541-560-3400 to get the latest developments. EXTRA- EXTRA- EXTRA- EXTRA- Due to demonstrations aimed at the Peak Timber Sale on the Prospect Ranger District, some road closures have been put In to effect, and could remain for approximately two or three months. Please check with the ranger station before planning any trips to the Prospect Ranger District. We want to apologize, and also say thank you to all of the hunters and recreationists who were put out buy either smoke or road and area closures this season. It just was a weird year, and we did the best we could. We know it is irritating to wait all year for camping or hunting only to find that restrictions ruin everything. Your understanding and patience through all of this was much appreciated. -Butte Falls Cafe- Wishes you and your family a Rem em ber that you can purchase your dog tags from the Butte Falls City Hall. M ost of the money stays here that way! “Happy Thanksgiving” _____ 865-7707 Count your blessings. Nam e them one by one!
