ZYXWVUTSRQPONMLKJIHGF he next time that you are at a Butte Falls sporting event you can be sure that you will see Vivian Rodgers taping somewhere in the stands. Since M ike Rodgers was in High School (1984) - the oldest other grandchildren - Vivian has been very active in school activities. From Baseball, Football, and Basketball through M ike, Jerem y and now Nick, Vivian has taped it all. She is a person that you can count on to be there, cheering Butte Falls on. It is rare when you find a person that is so dedicated to doing something for their family, community and youth. Even when her children and grandchildren are not involved Vivian still comes to all the girls Basketball games to run the video cam era. Vivian was bom on December 8, 1926 in Jackson County, she attended Shady Cove Grade School and then transferred to Eagle Point where she finished grade school and high school. W hile in high school Vivian was active in Volleyball, Basketball, Softball, Gym nastics and Cheerleading. Even when Vivian was in high school she was thoughtful. She supervised the seventh and eighth grade gym class when there was a shortage of teachers during W orld W ar II. After graduating from high school, Vivian attended Oregon State College in the fall and when she returned home for Thanksgiving she m et her husband-to-be Jess Rodgers, Jr. (a.k.a. Bill). Jess and Vivian were m arried on October 14, 1946 and had three children; Gary, B.J., and Debra. W hile her children were growing up she helped with Little League, opened the Community Hall for roller skating, Boy Scouts, and took m any of her children ’s friends water skiing and on trips to Blue Canyon. Vivian worked at Bear Creek for several years, then started working at Butte Falls Elementary with the Special Ed class. Soon after that, she started working at the Butte Falls High School Library and took money at games. Vivian used the profits to pay for pictures of the games as well as other school activities. Vivian has rem ained very active throughout her life. Over the years she has enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, water skiing, gardening, and of course watching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren grow and be just as active as she was. Vivian has three children, four grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren so her life is continually busy. Thank you Vivian for all the time you spend helping the youth of Butte Falls. Your time is greatly appreciated and does not go unnoticed. W E THANK YOU SINCERELY!!! I By: Sarah Bechler (Senior BFHS) t I i I I I i I I t
