Bill couldn’t stay retired too long - soon he was
back logging, just for several months though-
things were not the same and his old love of
logging just wasn’t there anymore.
Anne’s bookkeeping abilities brought her to
help Ron Hailicka’s business in '86. In 1989,
Anne was hired as receptionist at the Butte Falls
Ranger District until she retired in 1993. At the
District Office, Anne was invaluable. She could
do anything asked of her. If it was something
new, she sure learned it quick.
During the winter of 1990, Bill helped renovate
an old Medford restaurant that is now our beau
tiful depot style library. Then in 1992, Bill went to
work for Jim and Linda Matthews. They had
purchased some land on Cobleigh Road and
wanted to restore it for their retirement. Bill took
care of the place during their absence until they
finally moved here permanently in June of 1994.
At the present time, Anne is busy with the City’s
business end of Americorps, a job she is learn
ing along the way and doing great at! All of us
on the Bulletin Staff have had the pleasure of
working with or alongside Anne and know per
sonally that she has been, and will continue to
be, an instrumental part of getting this commu
nity to where it is now.
Bill is again involved in volunteering his time. For
the past few months he's been planning and
supervising the Americorps projects. Bill’s ex
pertise has helped make many of these projects
the huge successes they have become.
Anne and Bill; you’re good people and we’re
glad to have you in this Town!
Bill was very honored when he was asked to be
Grand Marshal in the 1989, 4th of July Parade.
Is there anyone as modest as Bill? Yes, his wife
Anne. A wonderful, sweet person who has been
there when we need her. Anne’s feet, like Bill’s,
hit the ground running as soon as they landed
in Butte Falls in 1980. She joined the Lioness
Club, went to tax school and received her tax
preparer's certification. In 1981 she worked as
a tax preparer at PDQ Business Services in
Shady Cove during tax season. She also helped
with bookkeeping for Rogue River Lodge. Anne
became the budget officer for town, preparing
budgets for five consecutive years untit she was
elected treasurer. Her expertise was again
called upon at PDQ during the 1982 tax season
and she was also substitute librarian for two
years. In 1983, Anne, Lynn Anderson, and Linda
Moore opened a craft shop behind the big win
dow at Anderson’s Apartments. From 1984 to
1994 Anne was the bookkeeper for the Cool’s at
the Butte Falls General Store. Also in '84, Anne
and Bill purchased and began renovations on
the Town’s Laundromat. In 1986 Anne helped
reorganize the Butte Falls Ambulance and was
elected treasurer. Anne has been an asset to
the ambulance ever since. She has great fund
raising ideas and the energy to help see them
through. Anne is still with the Board of Directors
- at this time she is Vice Chair.
