Un grupo de representantes del
Seguro Social estará presente en el
hall de la iglesia de San Lucas el
sábado 5 de febrero, con el fin de
ayudar a los residentes de North
Marion a inscribirse en el nuevo
programa de atención médica.
Se espera que todas las personas
del condado d e North Marion
quienes deben decidir acerca de la
atención medica se harán presentes
en Woodburn en busca de ayuda
en este día de inscripción especial.
Auquellos quienes no reciben nin
gún beneficio deberán t r a e r un
papel que pruebe su edad tal como
el certificado de nacimiento o de
bautismo. Quienes han nacido en
otro país deberán traer el certifi
cado de naturalización o la tarjeta
de registro como residènte extran
jero. Interpretes de habla española
serán facilitados por el Centro de
Oportunidad de Woodburn el cual
proveerá t a m b ié n transporte a
quien lo necesite. "St. Luke's Hall"
queda en las calles 4th y Harrison.
Dicha evento tendrá lugar entre las
9:00 de la mañana y las 5:30 de la
tarde. Se están planeando otros
dias de inscripción como este en
las otras regiones del valle antes
del 31 de marzo.

Miguel Miranda, 20, de Nyssa
recibió un regalo de Navidad es
pecial — un trabajo. El esta en en
trenamiento en en Tongue Point Job
Corps Center en Astoria. Durante
su vacación de Navidad Miguel tra
bajo por tres dias en un taller de
automóviles en Payette, Idaho. El
impresionó a R. J. Hanigan, el
dueño de Hanigan Chevrolet Co.,
que el Sr. Hanigan escribió' al Job
Corps.
"Miguel tiene un puesto con mi
compañía cuando termina su en
trenamiento."
Last S u n d a y in the home of
Guadalupe Alvarez, in Independ
ence, a group of men decided it
was time for them to organize.
They wanted to get together be
cause they have something in com
mon, and because they wanted to
help their fellow man and their
community.
The group is called the Spanish
American Organization. They meet
every Sunday at 1 p.m. in the In
dependence Opportunity Center.
They invite everyone to come to
their meetings.
The officers are President: Cle
mente Reyna (who is also a repre
sentative on the community action
council), Vice President: Gilberto
Zapata, Secretary: Jesus Zarate,
Treasurer: Guadalupe Alvarez, and
Sgt. of Arms: Manuel Rodreguez.
El domingo pasado en la casa de

ence, un grupo de señores decidie
ron q u e d e b e n organizarse.
Querrían juntarse p o r q u e tienen
algo en común, y porque quieren
ayudar a su hermano hombre y su
comunidad.
El grupo se llama la Organización
Americano Español. Se ¡untan cada
domingo a las 1, in el Centro de
Oportunidad de Independence. Les
invitan a todos a asistir a estas re
uniones.

Coach Mike Devine of Woodburn
says that he is very happy with the
results of their first game.
