PAGE 7 NORTH COAST TIMES E A G L E, JULY 2001 A BLOODLESS COUP BY PERI' During the Indian wars the President was called "Great White Chief in Washington." The American Indian assumed that a "Great" Chief had done great deeds and earned many honors to be Chief of such a large tribe. I don't think they grasped the concept of leadership by winning a popularity contest as our Presidents are elected. Today the American public is even less aware of the change in our nation's government — but they have begun to suspect it. To put it into direct words, 'A Bloodless Coup'. Our government has been lost without a shot being fired. The American people are no longer in command of their govern-ment. The election system is now a contrivance to keep the people believing they have a say Rather than explain how we lost our country, I will just list the steps — in case you missed them: 1- Abraham Lincoln violated the Constitution of the United States. The Civil War invalidated it. 2 - Prohibition established without ratification, confirming the Constitution as invalid 3 - Gangs become the rulers of the street. Government makes compromise deals. 4 - J. Edgar Hoover established the practice of spying on American citizens. 5 — CIA established as an international spy organization; no structure or limits except finances. 6 - United States begins covert influence in unfriendly countries, establishing rebel groups, providing training, financial assistance, enabling arms acquisition. We lose several secret wars: China (resulting in Taiwan); Cuba (resulting in Fidel Castro being entrenched as the only ruler strong enough in the Western Hemisphere to resist the U.S.); Korea (resulting in a divided country); Chile (resulting in a new international slogan, "Yanqu> Go Home" and worldwide anti-American sentiment). 7 - Vietnam: our chance to get "even" with China for the Korean War; initially invited to intervene by the French, with the result of being on the proverbial 'hot seat' following France's defeat, and our own people eventually turn against it — desperate times call for desperate measure: enter the "Phoenix” assas-sination program conducted by the CIA 8 - 'Phoenix'. Designed by William F.Colby for counter-insurgency, to provide precision strikes against Viet Cong and North Vietnamese operatives infiltrated into the South Vietnamese government. An attempt to turn North Vietnamese tactics against them. Promoted as the "Special Forces" branch of the Air Force, responsibilities of Phoenix were to be liaison office between ground forces, intelligence and airfield defense. As a result, each officer was trained to be an independent operator. Trained in intelligence, weapons, tactics, strategy, philosophy, history, psychological warfare, etc., by CIA, FBI and military special forces teams including SEALS, Green Beret, SAS and Interpol. For the first time a single soldier was capable of functioning independently in order to perceive, plan, orchestrate and lead precision strikes. Plan was to use Phoenix to secure areas for continued air support while withdrawing American ground troops from Vietnam. 9 - Nixon, Reagan, George Bush Sr. (head of CIA) accused of using Phoenix as an assassination corps in Senate hearings. "Cover-up" attempt leads to Watergate, Iran/Contra Affair, absorption of Phoenix into CIA operations, establishment of drug cartels as a back door for political subversion of foreign nations and a new agenda for recovery. 10 — Economic warfare: in order to gain political control an economic war must control the superior weapon of warfare, capitalism. Long range defensive strategy adopted by Pentagon and approved by Capitol Hill leads to SDI ('Star Wars'), Savings & Loan collapse, extraordinary military expenditures siphoned to CIA missions, taxation favoritism, breakup of 'Ma Bell' and lately Microsoft (recently reinstituted), among others. The tactics of Machievelli, Sun Tzu and Hitler incorporated into international affairs criteria For the unenlightened I will list the basic principles at work here and examples of their usage. (For the rest of you — Look around; your freedom has been lost!) Today the very people who devised and evolved the current system in play are again in power The concept of taking over the country from the inside, always a possibility as well as an aspiration by domestic elites, seems to have been accomplished George Bush Sr. (#41) has been succeeded by his son and namesake (#43); and his old ministers are back in power, the same people who brought you the above events. From time honored tradition, the necessary steps toward domestically subverting a country or nation or kingdom are usually: ~Keep the people ignorant (for example, our educational system that is primarily indoctrination). Complete lack in training of useful daily skills. Continuous misinformation until not even the truth is believable. -Remove all weapons from the people. -Give the people a common enemy so they can be more easily manipulated; Hitler targeted the Jews and "impure" blood; we have chosen war on the poor (not poverty), drugs, etc., making our own citizens criminals and enemies. ~Gain control through manipulation of the people's elected representatives — by limiting our political system to twD parties we enable the control of both through money and fear (/ e., a vote for third party candidates is berated as wasted). ~Removal of common freedoms. Reducing rights and freedoms to limited privileges establishes the seeds of aristocracy in which one "class" of citizens gains the power and authority USSR (1957) to regulate another. With each prohibitive law a freedom is lost that is seldom regained, until it is generally accepted the state or government has the right to seize property and persons for reasons of penalty, national security, etc. -Increase police forces and powers. They will act as paramilitary units with concomitant escalations of abuses such as the recent spates of shooting by police of minor offenders as well as racial profiling, while simultaneously popular television shows spin out sanctioned propaganda of the police "Blue Warriors". -Use taxation and tariffs to keep the people hungry so that when they are fed they will be grateful for the beneficence. Taxation is contrived as a duty and legal obligation — we must account for every penny owed but no accounting is made of what it is used for by the govern ment whose only guarantee is penalty and punishment if we don't pay a specified amount by the specified day. -Control the electoral process by influencing those who count the ballots as opposed to those who interpret them (our most recent Presidential election serving as example). -Reinterpret established laws and traditions in compliance with the new reigning order. -Banish all religions opposed to state sanctioned worship by disenfranchisement or imprisonment and possible execution of their priests and elders. There are more but these are enough examples. "What can I do?" you may ask Probably nothing. The warning moment is past; from here anything that is done will probably be wrong That we have been so blind against all the warnings and our country has been taken from under our very noses by a devious elite and we still can't see it tells me Jefferson was right! If you aren't sure what Jefferson meant, then you are part of the problem Peri and his dog live and work in Astoria. SMILING MAN The man was smiling. It was the 4th of July. Somewhere else small children were parading in patriotic costumes under American flags The man's face was proud and his smile was gentle. Look! He must be Thomas Jefferson! People pointed at a small boy with a powdered wig askew, who laughed shyly at their attention. And that must be George Washington — that little girl just has to be Betsy Ross. Perhaps his smile was sad The crowd laughed at another boy who was Abraham Lincoln trying to keep his whiskers from falling Mothers and fathers affectionately waved to their children parading by His friends were not smiling. Great brass bands followed the marching children, crescendoing the air with stirring American songs, the sun shining molten gold on trumpets and bassoons The smiling man and his friends did not move. Behind the bands came the veterans, marching to the drums, wearing blue American Legion or VFW caps, some of them with empty sleeves pinned to their shoulders; others stumped by on artificial legs There were four of them, counting the smiling man. and they lay on the wet ground of a coconut grove In the afternoon, after the picnic lunch, some of the men and boys played baseball on the local park diamond while politicians sware their undying patriotism to the crow! sitting on the grass. They threw out such catchwords as "Liberty" and "Freedom for all" as if they were baseballs Above his sad smile and wide open eyes, the smiling man's head was neatly cut away, the round lower half almost resembling a child's cereal bowl His friends laying on the moldy ground had parts of their bodies missing also A veteran without UNIONTOWN an arm, who did not wear an American Legion or VFW cap, attempted to shout down the politicians, calling them "Liars!" and "Murderers!" He remembered the smiling man and his friends, would in fact never forget them, although in the course of almost a year at war he had seen thousands of dead, most of them farmers and their families whose bodies were strewn like rubbish around their burned homes or out in their rice fields The loss of his arm seemed almost a justifiable penance, but he was more often bitter about it. He remembered walking over to the bodies in the coconut grove He had killed them the night before He had seen them by the light of a flare trying to set up a machinegun and blew them apart with a hand grenade. It had rained the rest of the night and in the morning the bodies lay leeched of blood. The smiling man stared at him with dead eyes. He was transfixed by the smile, the neatly cut away head resembling one of those cornflakes bowls with a comic face his mother had given him v4ien he was a boy. A friend shook him out of it and he walked away into the months ahead until the war took his arm. Police took his arm and led him away, warning him to not disturb the festivities again or they would lock him up The smiling man and his friends were left to rot in the grove The sun set behind tall mountains and night crept over the bodies Somewhere else great colored starbursts flared in the sky. showering the thrilled crawls with streamers of flaming oranges, reds and yellows One magnificent burst formed the Stars & Stripes for a few seconds and everyone applauded Elsevtfiere on this night heavy jet bombers shot into a tropical sky and turned toward a jungled coconut grove 218 WEST MARINE DRIVE ASTORIA, OREGON 97103 (503) 325-8708 Downtown - michael M c C usker 3 32 1O th • A storia , O regon 97103
