h a v e c o n t r o l o v e r th e c o n t e n t s a n d a c t i v i t i e s
t h a t t a k e p l a c e w i t h in t h e i r o w n b r a i n s . I n s t e a d
q u i t e th e o p p o s i t e is th e c a s e . It i s a s if o u r b r a i n s
a r e a f f l i c t e d w ith c e r e b r a l p a l s y a n d r e f u s e
to r e s p o n d to r e p e a t e d c o m m a n d s . T h e r e a s o n
f o r t h i s p e c u l i a r m a l a d y is a c t u a l l y v e r y
s i m p l e . We h a v e b e e n h y p o n o t i z e d a n d e n s l a v e d
b y l a n g u a g e , b y th e p r o d u c t s o f o u r o w n i m a g i ­
