When creating a home
escape plan, here are
some
important ideas to
remember:
Identify at least two ways out of each room. They can include
doors and windows. If there are non-releasable security
bars on bedroom windows, they should either be removed
or replaced with releasable type bars.
Draw your home escape plan showing each room of the home
and directional arrows indicating how to escape from each
room.
Determine a meeting place outside the home where all occu-
pants will gather once they have escaped.
Make sure there is at least one working smoke detector on eve-
ry floor of your home.
Practice your home escape plan periodically so that everyone
in your home is familiar with it.
