Reader says use your voice! “We the People”. We all know, I hope, how those three words honestly are supposed to govern our country. The first three words of our Constitu- tion do NOT say “Me the Pres- ident”, “Me the Congress”, nor “ Me the Senate”. They say, “We the People”, our country, our welfare, our justice, our liberty. Today, I am not certain that these three words mean much to the egos attempting to govern and protect our free- dom, our justice, our welfare or liberty. I fear that partisanship and ego-centricity overshadow the will and security of “We the People.” We no longer have representatives which work as bi-partisan elected officials to solve the pressing problems of the 21st century. Instead, we have party loyalists who com- pletely ignore our Constitu- tion, our laws, our governing rules and squander our welfare to the hands of corporate do- nors and CEO’s who benefit in keeping “We the People” fat, confused, stressed out and poisoned. These so-called rep- resentatives (not all but many) are too busy with re-election campaigns, raising re-election funds and donors, and deny- ing most ideas and visions put forth by “The other party” to ever truly support and care for “We the People.” Our Democracy has be- come a sham, a broken record of denial, betrayal and deceit towards “We the People.” No longer do most Americans trust the government. No longer is this a country which welcomes immigrants. By the way, most of us, if not Native American, are descendants of immigrants. Too many representatives truly forget that fact, from the top guy down. Hatred, racism, in- sults, sexism and bigotry are now the “Order of the Tweeters Day”. Yet few representatives have the guts or courage to call out the haters, the racists, the bigots, even when these people who spew their troubled minds across our news broadcasts do so each and every day. Where are the passionate, the just, the truly mindful and thoughtful representatives from each and all parties, to stand and de- nounce such hatred and evil, such prolonged destruction of “We the People”? What will it take to regain the trust of the American peo- ple toward their own govern- ment? It will take leadership which truly represents “We the People”, not “We the Corpo- ration” or “We the Corporate Owned Senator or Congress- woman / Congressman”. It will take leadership with compas- sion for all, empathy and reci- Obituaries Steven L. Bassett, 69 , of Cave Junction, died Nov. 17, 2018 at his home. Strango “Blazia” April 7, 1954 – Nov. 4, 2018 If the earth could share these things Is only our futures guest How happy we would be To truly believe in this Tomorrow is another day And what we will truly see to be Will it bring us all these things Or what will tomorrow truly bring A felt hat, high-heels, magnifying glass, promoting fashion, glamour, song and dance and the love of God. Her last poem called “Truly” is a gift to you. “Truly” A world full of love What a wonderful place this would be A world filled with truth And more than honesty A place that loves God Is a place of peace and serenity A place that grows Is always filled with morality Is there such a world somewhere Where in the universe can it be Is all of this actually possible Where in our universe can it be procity, a truthful caring for the health and well being of natu- ral systems, for our environ- ment, for our water, our soil, our air, our forests, our oceans and all living beings. It will take representative who under- stand living with the Earth, not dominating the Earth. It will take honest, moral and unself- ish women and men who place “We the People” far above “We the Politician” or “we the Ego- maniacs”. It will take each and every citizen of this country to care for each other, and to demand our representatives govern for the Good and Welfare of the Nation and ALL life. We the People have a voice.
