Charges can be amended or dismissed.) *** Monday, July 23 *A jerk stole a gal’s Oregon Trail EBT food card and used all the benefits at Shop Smart Foods July 8 at 5 p.m. Video footage of the incident was reviewed. *An individual died in the 2200 block of Rockydale Road, according to a report at 12:29 a.m. *A father attempted to evict his son from the 100 block of Stillwater Way July 19, but he was still there at 10:37 a.m. The dad was advised on eviction process and restraining orders because his offspring was stealing items that were supposed to be sold with the house. (Bad seed.) *Meanwhile, a customer in the 72000 block of Williams Hwy. in Grants Pass pushed a small wallet- sized pouch through their PO Box and onto the floor. The bag contained a gift card, fuel points card, and a small glass pipe with a white powder that appeared to be meth. (Gasp – not in Grants Pass?!) *At 12:46 a.m., a woman screamed at a couple of miscreants who were prowling around her house in the 200 block of Dogwood Lane. One mongrel said he was just heading down the road, except he was sitting in the blackberry bushes on her property. *Law enforcement pulled over a silver-colored Dodge Dakota near Dogwood Lane and Lurline Lane at 2:09 p.m. Michael J. Phillips, 47, was detained in Josephine County (JoCo) Jail, charged with felony driving while suspended and probation violation detainer. *A representative from Rapid Repo attempted to retrieve a 2017 Kia Sorento from the 700 block of McMullen Creek Road at 2:10 p.m. He was not rapid enough; the Kia had already been repossessed. *Cari Lee Ginevra, 30, was detained in JoCo Jail on a felony warrant for parole violation and unauthorized use of a vehicle. Ginevra was apprehended at 2:50 p.m. in the 24500 block of Redwood Hwy. *At 4:04 p.m. occupants of a blue Toyota Highlander in the 2000 block of Deer Creek Road were yelling and arguing over firearms. Tuesday, July 24 *A woman was screaming for an ambulance at 9:02 a.m. in the 4000 block of Dick George Road. She said that her husband shot himself after they had an argument. She did not want to go into the woods to look at him, but she heard the shot. The gal later admitted that they were in the area to burglarize a residence. At 2:26 p.m. he miraculously recovered from his mortal injuries; several deputies saw him cruising down Caves Hwy. on a motorcycle that had been left near Dick George Road. *Merle Leonard Southard, Jr. 19, carried on his family’s tradition with his arrest at 11:17 a.m. in the 1400 block of Caves Hwy. Southard had two warrants from Josephine County and two from Grants Pass Department of Public Safety (GPDPS). His charges include failure to appear for multiple counts of elude, reckless driving and third-degree escape, as well as possession of meth. Wednesday, July 25 *Justin Brian Taylor, 29, was arrested at taser point near Old Stage Road at 12:18 p.m. for outstanding warrants from GPDPS and JCSO. Taylor was charged with failure to appear for dangerous drugs and possession of meth. Taylor was detained in JoCo Jail for probation detainer and his warrants. *A fortunate fellow found his stolen 2006 Suzuki Forenza near the Fountain of Life Church in the 400 block of S. Junction Avenue at 2:25 p.m. *At 3:39 p.m. a woman in the 200 block of Shadywood Drive complained about workers who hadn’t finished construction projects, so she wanted them evicted. Instead, Tammy Sue Hoppe, 42, was cited to appear in Lake County Circuit Court Aug. 13 for failure to appear for driving under the influence of intoxicants. Thursday, July 26 *An unoccupied black Jeep Wrangler was parked at the end of a driveway in the 100 block of Hogue Drive at 9:44 a.m., and a neighbor believed it might have been stolen. Until a man showed up with a gas can. (Never mind.) Friday, July 27 *JCSO assisted United States Marshalls with the apprehension of a fugitive near Redwood Hwy. and Clear Creek Road at 11:10 a.m. *On July 24, a dark-green 1997 Ford Ranger with a white tail gate was stolen from Forks State Park while the owner was swimming in the river. The Ranger has a damaged front tire, a heavily-damaged cab ceiling, and the front bumper is welded in place. Saturday, July 28 *An elderly man, 97, died in the 1500 block of Lone Mountain Road. *A chap claimed he had been assaulted at Jubilee Park at 12:37 p.m., but he was unable to provide a description of his attacker. There were no obvious physical injuries to his face, and he stated he was not in any pain from the smack. He did, however, have two warrants, one being a “do not cite and release”. Nick Dustin Farmer, 19, was detained in JoCo Jail for a felony warrant for failure to appear for first-degree criminal mischief, and a misdemeanor warrant for trespass. *Aubreyann Valyn Taylor, 30, was arrested in the 100 block of N. Redwood Hwy. at 4:08 p.m. for a felony warrant for failure to appear for dangerous drugs. *A sex offender on supervision was driving near Eight Dollar Trailhead at 3:23 p.m. The guy had four minor children in his vehicle but claimed that they are his cousins. His probation officer scheduled a mandatory meeting for the next morning. Sunday, July 29 *A red Pontiac Grand Am was conveniently crashed into the side of a fence at an old wrecker yard on Rusk Road at 10:09 a.m. *Residents near Holland Loop Road and Hayes Cutoff lost their electricity at 2 a.m. when a negligent driver wrecked, then left the scene. It appeared that the vehicle was tangled in a fence and hit a concrete irrigation structure. Part of the vehicle, oil or transmission fluid and a beer bottle were on the ground. A power pole was broken and sparking lines on the ground nearly started a fire. Kudos to Illinois Valley Fire District for their intervention. (Wonder if the car part found was red?) *A Kimber .45 caliber pistol was found in the 100 block of Turnagain Drive at 11:13 a.m. (Do you know where your firearm is?)
