Charges can be amended or dismissed.) *** Tuesday, June 12 *Illinois Valley High School was placed on lockdown at 1:13 p.m. because some fool was shooting in the softball/soccer field area behind the school. Law enforcement checked the area thoroughly but could not find a shooter. *A fugitive who was identified by photo and tattoo was apprehended following a foot chase near Reeves Creek Road and Hwy. 199 at 4:25 p.m. During a consent search, a deputy located and seized a loaded gun from his back pack. Joshua Blake Sanders, 22, was arrested on a felony warrant from Santiam Correctional Facility, charged with escape from custody, fugitive, and unauthorized use of a vehicle. He was also charged with felon in possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of a firearm, and third- degree escape. Sanders was detained in Josephine County Monday, June 11 *An Evel Knievel on a black motorcycle led law enforcement on a chase through Cave Junction and down Caves Hwy. at 1:12 p.m. He came within a few feet of hitting a patrol car head-on near W. Watkins Street. A report was filed for felony elude, reckless driving, and two counts of reckless endangering. *A gal in the 1300 block of Reeves Creek Road placed her .357 Ruger pistol in a safe a year ago. She realized the gun was missing May 28. (So much for gun control.) *The driver of a 1996 Subaru Legacy claimed he overcorrected when he negotiated a corner in the 3800 block of Takilma Road Jail pending transport back to Salem. His cohort Spangler admitted that the firearm found in Sanders’ backpack was his, but he had no clue how it arrived there. Spangler was cited for driving while suspended violation and no insurance. A charge of unlawful possession of a firearm was forwarded to the district attorney’s office. Wednesday, June 13 *Firearms were seized from the 500 block of Mesa Verde Drive at 9:22 a.m. *When a guy was getting ready to leave his residence in the 24500 block of Redwood Hwy. at 9:42 a.m., his roommate was upset and threw bottles. When he said he would leave the bathroom once he was done, she became angrier. (Try telling her to calm down, because that works so well.) He was advised on eviction process and restraining order procedures. *A couple in a dark gray Ford minivan were screaming and yelling at each other, causing a disturbance at 4:19 p.m. near the playground at Jubilee Park. At 4:20 p.m. he walked away, and everything was peaceful again. (Funny how that happens, like a town clock ringing in the lunch hour.) *A motorcyclist required medical assistance after striking a deer in the 5000 block of Takilma Road at 4:05 p.m. Law enforcement placed his Beretta 9mm. into safekeeping and confiscated the license plate that did not match the motorcycle VIN. Thursday, June 14 Friday, June 15 *An abandoned snowmobile licensed in Washington was found near Bolan Lake June 9. Bears ripped the seat; hopefully the riders did not suffer the same fate. *At 12:13 p.m. a black- haired gal in a black sedan hit a blue Chrysler Sebring convertible, ducked through the car wash, then drove away from the 100 block of S. Redwood Hwy. *A 2000 blue GMC Arcadia, or what’s left of it, was recovered in a quarry near upper Deer Creek Road at 12:56 p.m. The stripped vehicle was missing wheels, and the windows were broken. *A bicyclist in the 5600 block of Westside Road was bitten on the shoe by a pit bull at 9:32 a.m. Saturday, June 16 *At 12:09 p.m. a fellow requested assistance in recovering his personal property from the 6700 block of Westside Road. His father was destroying his belongings and threatening to hit him with pipes, or whatever else was handy.
