Charges can be amended or dismissed.) *** Monday, Dec. 25 *Next of kin were notified of the death of a family member in the 900 block of Caves Hwy. *Folks who were playing disc golf at Forks State Park claimed that someone was shoot- ing at them at 2:37 p.m. (Forty- fore.) The gunman was shooting in a safe manner, but he was counseled for discharging his firearm in Cave Junction city limits. Tuesday, Dec. 26 *When a gal returned to her residence in the 100 block of Caves Avenue at 10:25 a.m., she noticed an open window. Com- puter cords and a large paper bag of marijuana mysteriously van- ished between Dec. 23-25. (Santa needed something besides milk and cookies.) *On Dec. 13, a couple felt sorry for a woman during the bad weather, so they let her stay in their apartment in the 200 block of Millie Street. When they asked her to leave on Dec. 16, she threatened them and refused to leave. Josephine County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) contacted the couple on Dec. 20, but the pro- crastinators still had not checked to see if their visitor had left. On Dec. 26, JCSO received another request to remove the trespasser, but since so much time had passed, an eviction process is necessary to oust the squatter. Wednesday, Dec. 27 *A 62-year-old man was confirmed deceased in the 24500 block of Redwood Hwy. at 10:56 a.m. *A woman was arrested on a felony warrant from Grants Pass Department of Public Safety at 2:24 p.m. following a vehicle search on Westside Road. Thelma Christine Locke, 45, was locked up in Josephine County Jail for failure to appear for possession of meth and third-degree theft. *A fellow was down on his luck when he phoned 911 from Cave Junction at 4:51 p.m. He hadn’t eaten in days, but he was trespassed from all the buildings in town, so he wanted his father to help him. Thursday, Dec. 28 *At 3:15 p.m. a gal in the 3500 block of Deer Creek Road was upset because a guy made illegal verbal recordings, and she demanded that he delete them. Friday, Dec. 29 *Two hooligans in a blue beat-up Dodge 2500 with Cali- fornia plates drove away from the 1400 block of Draper Valley Road at 8:20 a.m. They were tow- ing a trailer loaded with stolen items, and one of them pointed a black pistol at the resident as they left. He found his badly-dam- aged trailer three miles up Indian Creek at 11:29 a.m. A report was filed for unauthorized use of a vehicle, first-degree criminal mischief, second-degree burglary, and first-degree aggravated theft. *Hull and Hull Funeral Di- rectors notified JCSO of a death in the 400 block of Fernwood Drive. Saturday, Dec. 30 *An individual was con- firmed deceased at 10:14 a.m. in the 700 block of Lakeshore Drive. *There was a family feud in the 300 block of McMullen Creek Road at 2:09 p.m. (Holiday spirit has fizzled.) Sunday, Dec. 31 *A neighbor felt threatened because two ammo-maniacs in dark clothing were shooting their guns in the 2800 block of Rocky- dale Road at 3:23 p.m. Monday, Jan. 1 *There was a disturbance between 7:30-8 a.m. in the 7800 block of Takilma Road. A fel- low was defending his wife, and someone was punched, knocked off a porch, and thrown to the ground. *Cannon blasts from the 100 block of Cowboy Way were rat- tling windows in the 400 block of Queen of Bronze at 8:40 a.m. At 11:02 a.m., the Queen of Bronze neighbors fought back, using a slingshot loaded with rocks, nuts, bolts, and unfired 9mm. bullets. The battle will continue, because the resident on Cowboy Way received more black powder guns for Christmas. (Gee thanks, Santa.) *Patrick Randall Lubin, 32, was arrested at 12:13 p.m. in the 100 block of Warren Road. Lubin had a felony warrant from Clack- amas County Sheriff’s Office for failure to appear for selling marijuana. He was cited to appear in Clackamas Co. Circuit Courts in Oregon City in lieu of being detained. *JCSO apprehended a fugi- tive with a misdemeanor warrant from Jackson County at 2:28 p.m. at 120 N. Redwood Hwy. Michael Lee Palmer, 35, was charged with contempt of court, and cited to appear in lieu of being detained. Tuesday, Jan. 2 *A gal borrowed a friend’s gold-colored 2005 Toyota Avalon. She started the car at 6:58 a.m., then ran inside to grab her cell phone and purse. By the time she came outside, the Avalon was gone from the Kerby High Pines Trailer Park. *Jesse Hopwood, 34, was detained in Josephine County Jail following his arrest near E. Watkins Street and S. Caves Av- enue at 12:21 p.m. Hopwood was charged with failure to appear for possession of meth, eluding police, and reckless driving. *Children left a garage door open enough to let their cats come inside on Jan. 1. Cat bur- glars arrived instead, and stole several large tools from the 300 block of Burgundy Lane. Missing items include a Husqvarna chain saw, angle grinders, power drill, jigsaw, and framing hammer. Movie projectors, a baseball bat, and a Berber machete were also taken. They also took tax receipts for 2016 and 2017. (Why?) A report was filed for first-degree burglary and theft. *An FMB taxi driver was taken for a ride on Dec. 27 when he transported a woman from the Greyhound bus station on Morgan Lane to her residence in the 1000 block of Lakeshore Drive. The generous guy gave her a price break of $65, but his square card runner did not have a signal to process her payment. He wrote down her credit card number, but failed to ask her name. Her credit card payment was declined, and she is not returning his calls. Wednesday, Jan. 3 *Brandon Cain has been trespassed from Shop Smart for six months, per the store manager at 4:15 p.m. *A fellow wearing a red plastic raincoat and women’s nylons was acting very strangely (what was the tip-off?) near the entrance to Forks State Park at 4:23 p.m. The dapper dude was devouring a chicken and throwing food everywhere. He was warned for littering, and disorderly con- duct for standing in the roadway. Friday, Jan. 5 *A woman found an item which had been stolen from her on Dec. 26 from the 100 block of N. Caves Avenue. She spotted her decorative plaque in the worksta- tion of a friend of her daughter. Saturday, Jan. 6 *A fugitive was arrested in the 35000 block of Redwood Hwy. at 11:38 a.m. Cecil Gordon Dodson, Jr., 35, was detained in Josephine County Jail for felony warrants from Oregon State Parole Board and JCSO. Dodson was charged with parole violation for possession of meth. *A house in the 300 block of S. Kerby Avenue was broken into, but the selective thief only took medication. Items of value were left behind. Thursday, Jan. 4 *A damsel claimed that she camped out on church property at 25904 Redwood Hwy., because it was posted as a sanctuary. She stated that the pastor and his wife were threatening to burn down the tent, with her trapped inside. The pastor advised that she was trespassing, and that he only al- lows people to stay in his sanctu- ary with permission from him and his wife. He pointed out that the zipper door was open on the col- lapsed tent. (Repent, or no tent.) *The side window on a truck was smashed between 6-6:45 a.m. on Jan. 2 at Lorna Byrne Middle School. Missing items include an iPad, fishing pole and tackle, jumper cables, pocket knives, blankets, a phone charger, and registration paperwork. A re- port was filed for second-degree criminal mischief, second-degree theft, and unauthorized entry into a motor vehicle. *At 3:40 p.m. a fellow was locked out of his house in the 300 block of Gold Canyon Drive. He has a history of being physically assaulted by his live-in girlfriend, so he was provided with options regarding a restraining order and eviction procedures. *At 3:51 p.m., a woman offered her version of the saga in the 300 block of Gold Canyon Drive. She claimed that she was going to pack her belongings and leave, because her boyfriend is a convicted felon. Sunday, Jan. 7 *Mark Anthony Davis, 30, was arrested under a bridge near Redwood Hwy. and Rockydale Road at 6:18 p.m. Davis was charged with violation of con- ditional release and failure to register as a sex offender. He was detained in Josephine County Jail pending extradition to San Diego County in California. As Davis was being transported to jail, he requested that his tent, canned foods, and backpack be donated. *Meth and 10 pounds of marijuana were found in the trunk of a vehicle on Kerby Mainline Road at 2:25 p.m. Charges were referred for Jeff Lauderdale, 40, for two federal citations for pos- session of meth, and for distribu- tion or trafficking marijuana. *Witnesses reported a “whacked out” woman who was yelling, screaming, pacing, and gesturing in a parking lot in the 18000 block of Redwood Hwy. at 2:34 p.m. *Joseph David Ainsworth, 39, had a misdemeanor warrant from Grants Pass Department of Public Safety for failure to appear for possession of meth. Ainsworth was arrested at Speedy Mart at 5:36 p.m., and cited to appear in lieu of arrest. He was warned for drinking alcohol in public.
