Charges can be amended or dismissed.) *** Monday, Oct. 16 *At 7:15 a.m. a gal in the 400 block of Lindilu Lane caught two guys and a dame trying to get into her vehicle. The three stooges were wearing ski masks before they left in a maroon Honda with California plates and a missing front bumper. The getaway car had a bumper sticker reading “Proud to be union with SS Carpenter.” *Commercial buildings in the 300 block of Cottage Park Drive were extensively damaged. *Michael Phillips was detained in Josephine County Jail following a traffic stop near Caves Hwy. and S. Junction Avenue at 2:51 p.m. Phillips was charged with felony driving while license was revoked and parole violation. Tuesday, Oct. 17 *On Oct. 13, a skinny, middle- aged, balding fellow walked out of a grocery store in the 200 block of W. Watkins. He was loaded down with fried chicken, potato salad and a 12-pack of Natural Ice beer, but he didn’t bother paying for his feast. He drove away in an older blue mini-van with tinted windows and Oregon plates. *The garden shed at Lorna Byrne Middle School was broken into between Oct. 13-15. Stolen items include a leaf blower/vacuum, weed whacker and hedge trimmer, all Black & Decker brand. A Stihl weed eater and Poulen gas weed whacker, as well as various garden tools, rakes, and hoes were also missing. *At 12:11 p.m., a guy armed with a hatchet was sitting on the porch of a green building near Hanby Lane and Cottage Park Drive. He was described as 6-foot, 175 pounds, with dark, shoulder- length hair and a mustache. He was last seen wearing a black jacket and dark gray shirt and pants. *At 12:38 p.m. a red car pulled into property in the 100 block of Pinewood Way, and a passenger jumped out, and started yelling and hitting a trailer with a baseball bat. The disturbance was a skirmish over a stolen pick axe. *A criminal with felony warrants was apprehended at 2:58 p.m. in the 100 block of S. Redwood Hwy. William Dewayne Culbertson, Jr., 44, was detained in Josephine County Jail on two felony warrants. Josephine County charged him with parole violation for possession of meth. Grants Pass Dept. of Public Safety (GPDPS) charges include failure to appear on five counts of identity theft, two of second-degree theft, and three for third-degree theft. Culbertson was also detained for unauthorized use of a vehicle, and third-degree escape. His knife and realistic pellet gun were taken away for safekeeping. *Justin Taylor appeared to be passed out near Dogwood Lane at 4:21 p.m. Taylor, 29, was detained in Josephine County Jail on a parole violation detainer for abscond. Wednesday, Oct. 18 *A deputy contacted a fugitive at 11:33 a.m. near Dogwood Lane. Tawnee Lee Cook, 29, was cited to appear on Nov. 9 for a felony warrant from Josephine County for failure to appear for possession of meth. *At 12:31 p.m. a concerned citizen reported that someone was shooting up drugs in a small gray car parked near Jubilee Park. *On Oct. 17 at 4:35 a.m. three hoodlums in a red Honda tried to smash a glass entry door in a store at 110 Deer Creek Road. Video surveillance footage captured their images. Thursday, Oct. 19 *A chap heard his neighbor yell to someone to shut up, then heard gun shots in the 500 block of Deer Creek Road at 10:25 a.m. He was frightened, so he drove to the top of Hayes Hill. *At 11:21 a.m. a guy walked out with a case of beer from a store at 205 W. Watkins St. He is a repeat shoplifter, having done the same thing on Oct. 13, before driving away in a blue van. The 1994 Dodge Caravan was previously registered in 2015 to a gal in Grants Pass. Hanshaw was charged with failure to appear for second-degree trespass, fourth- degree assault, and third-degree theft. *The registered owner of a black Frontier was detained in the 300 block of Caves Hwy. at 2:39 p.m. Geoffrey Patrick Eppes, 57, was wanted by Marion County Sheriff’s Office for a misdemeanor warrant for DUII. Friday, Oct. 20 *A gal wearing a multi-color sarape seemed to be intoxicated at 4:24 p.m. in the 18000 block of Redwood Hwy. She was trespassed from the U.S. Post Office in Selma. Saturday, October 21 *A red Honda with a missing back bumper was spotted in the 300 block of Arrowhead Drive at 10:33 a.m. The driver was seen trying to break the window at Ray’s Food Place in Selma earlier in the week. *At 1:44 p.m. a wild turkey was shot in someone’s yard in the 500 block of S. Old Stage Road. *A fellow was trespassed from the Junction Inn, but he returned to retrieve a white Honda Accord that contained large amounts of marijuana. Sunday, Oct. 22 *Two disruptive individuals I.V. GUNS & AMMO 541-592-3349 WHERE’S THE ALARM? were fighting, throwing fireworks, and sleeping in a red and green Chevy Suburban near Jubilee Park. Theodore Charles Scheirbeck, 51, had a misdemeanor warrant for failure to appear for driving under the influence of intoxicants (DUII). He was released and cited to appear on Nov. 8. The abandoned Suburban was tagged for tow. *A fugitive was apprehended at 1:39 p.m. in the 600 block of Frederick Court. Eric Paul Hanshaw, Sr., 42, was detained in Josephine (Courtesy photo for the Illinois Valley News) A truck left on the roadway in the 37000 block of Redwood Hwy. near O’Brien sometime before 8 a.m. Monday, Oct. 23. The driver fled on foot and was last seen heading north on 199. The truck had been reported stolen.
