United Rental has GPS tracking, which pinged the location of the backhoe 14 miles up Deer Creek Road. The right front wheel and battery had been removed when the backhoe was found at 12:06 p.m. A stolen Honda was also recovered at 11:22 a.m. *Melissa Jayne Lowenstein, 50, was escorted to Josephine County Jail for failure to appear on charges of disorderly conduct and second- degree trespassing. Lowenstein was taken into custody at 10:16 a.m. at Jubilee Park. *A woman seeking safe shelter in the 400 block of S. Junction Avenue left her door open, and a gal confronted her and took her cell phone at 10:52 a.m. A report was filed for harassment and second- degree theft. *Three entrepreneurs were having a yard sale at Western Plaza at 11:41 a.m. A deputy counseled them regarding their open beer containers and offensive littering. (One man’s junk is another man’s Monday, Sept. 18 *On July 15, a resident in the 11000 block of Takilma Road returned home to find an intruder hiding in her pantry. A list of stolen items totaling $2,640 was submitted to Josephine County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO), and a report was filed for first-degree burglary and first-degree theft. The case was reopened due to suspect information. *A dozen youngsters were throwing rocks at people in Jubilee Park at 4:43 p.m. One guy claimed that the kids accused him of urinating in public, and hit him in the side of the head. (Wrong kind of stoned.) Tuesday, Sept. 19 *An individual in the 200 block of Shadowbrook Drive was notified that a check from his account had bounced, and he learned that someone had written a check to an unknown person for $8,500.92. *Folks in the 200 block of Caves Hwy. were arguing about who owned a recovered stolen vehicle at 1:28 p.m. One guy received information from a previous owner that the vehicle was stolen, and that it was a misunderstanding, so he apologized. The scoundrels did not bother paying before leaving in a gray older Subaru with a black roof rack. Video surveillance footage captured images of the suspects, and a report was filed for second-degree theft. *Good fences make great neighbors, but residents in the 100 block of Dick George Road may need a taller fence. Two residents were arguing, and one woman reached over the fence and hit her foe at 1:31 p.m. *Another shoplifter at Shop Smart was caught on video surveillance on Aug. 25 at 4:20 p.m. (Time to toke, not take.) *Floyd Argus Greenlee, Jr., 29, was found to be in possession of methamphetamine at 4:09 p.m. in the 200 block of S. Redwood Hwy. He was cited to appear in Josephine County Court in lieu of arrest on Oct. 11. *The characters in the 100 block of Dick George Road were back at it again at 4:37 p.m. This time there were threats of pepper spray. The bag contained what appeared to be around 100 used needles. It was found due to a pizza box note being left on the recycling container urging caution as medical waste was inside.
