Friday, June 30
*There was a 911 hang-up call
at 9:42 a.m. from the 300 block of
S. Kerby Avenue. When Josephine
County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO)
followed up, the sobbing woman said
she thought she was fine. She claimed
there was no disturbance, and that one
of the children or a neighbor used her
phone.
*Mail addressed to a resident
on W. Palmer Street was dumped on
the road in the 200 block of S. Caves
Avenue at 10:29 a.m. An employee
from U.S. Post Office collected the
misdirected air mail.
*A guy was visiting his sister in
the 700 block of Crooks Creek Road,
but his welcome wore off when she
went to work. He claimed his sister’s
boyfriend pulled a black pump-action
shotgun on him Thursday night, and
was trying to kick the brother and his
daughter off the property at 10:46 a.m.
Law enforcement advised of their
options.
*An ex-husband armed with a
handgun was causing a disturbance
at 10:58 a.m. in the 300 block of
N. Hussey Avenue. He was angry
because he was not allowed to visit
his children, and was kicking the door
and threatening to break windows. He
drove away in a silver-colored Toyota
Tacoma with Washington plates.
The children’s mother was given
information regarding a restraining
order (RO).
*The determined dad returned
to the 700 block of Crooks Creek
Road at 12:05 p.m. After talking with
law enforcement, both parents agreed
to stay separated and to go through
proper channels without further
disturbances.
*A driver was warned of fire
hazard because his vehicle was
smoking badly at 1:06 p.m. near Echo
Beach Campground.
*A deputy checked on camps
along the southeast side of the Eight
Dollar Bridge River Access at 2:56
p.m.
*Daniel Earl Putnam, 28, was
arrested for misdemeanor driving
while suspended (DWS) with an
unregistered and uninsured vehicle.
Putnam, AKA Daniel E. Myers,
was cited to appear in lieu of being
detained, and his vehicle was
impounded. The incident occurred at
4:40 p.m. near Kerby Flat Trailhead.
Saturday, July 1
*An individual went to the 9200
block of Takilma Road at 10 a.m. to
serve an eviction notice. Plans changed
suddenly when the intended recipient
produced a firearm. The civil office of
JCSO will be contacted for assistance
with paper service.
*A driver was pulled over for
expired registration near Swinging
Bridge at 2:20 p.m. He produced a
valid temporary registration which was
in the vehicle, but not visible.
*At 2:28 p.m. a citizen was
concerned about a guy in the Dairy
Queen parking lot in the 200 block of
S. Redwood Hwy. He claimed that the
driver was talking to himself, but there
was a female with him in the blue
BMW SUV.
Sunday, July 2
*Between June 28 and July 1, an
individual was worried about a felon
from California who was allegedly
buying and selling firearms illegally
in the 17200 block of Redwood Hwy.
The felon was reportedly operating a
marijuana grow at the same location.
The tipster had no direct knowledge,
of course, but gathered the information
from rumors and Facebook
screenshots. He claimed that the felon
WHERE’S
THE ALARM?
The volunteers and staff of the
has a father and brother with the same
name. The incident was tagged as
beyond available resources (BAR) by
JCSO.
*A woman driving a Nissan
Titan nearly hit someone as she turned
into Dutch Bros. at 220 S. Redwood
Hwy. at 10 a.m. She then started
yelling at the person that she almost
ran into. (Give her decaf.)
*JCSO assisted another agency
in the search for a criminal with non-
extraditable warrants out of California.
He was believed to be living near
Kerby. Law enforcement met at 3:32
p.m., and license plates were seized.
*An elderly woman in a white
Mercury was crossing into oncoming
traffic near Redwood Hwy. and Illinois
River Road for five minutes. At 10:21
a.m. an attendant from the 76 Service
Station tried to talk her out of driving,
but she left heading south on Hwy.
199.
*At 11:05 a.m. a driver near
Redwood Hwy. and Deer Creek Road
was warned for failure to obey traffic
control device (FTOTCD) and failure
to carry and present driver’s license.
*A motorist with Washington
plates was warned for DWS/V and
obscured window at 11:09 a.m. near
Redwood Hwy. and Wild Park Lane.
*The operator of a Camry was
warned for speeding near Hwy. 199
and Eight Dollar Mountain Road at
11:16 a.m.
*Someone was cautioned
for driving too fast near Six Mile
Recreation Site at 1:04 p.m.
*A tenant in the 9200 block of
Takilma Road complained that she
never received an eviction notice
from her landlord other than a seven-
day written notice that was given
to her eight days ago. The landlord
shut off her water and moved her
belongings from the house without
her permission. She claimed that he
promised to accept a HUD voucher,
but because he has a marijuana grow,
he refused the voucher as payment.
The caretaker of the property stated
that the tenant was given notice to
move two months ago. He said she
told him she was out, but needed to
return for additional items. Her claim
of burglary was unfounded, and this
was deemed a civil matter. The tenant
was advised of her options.
*An aggressive dog was pepper-
sprayed when it charged a deputy who
was patrolling camps near FS Road
016 at 2:08 p.m. The canine’s owner
was reminded of the leash law.
*Two vehicles, one from Oregon
and another from Utah, were parked
in the roadway at Diver’s Hole
River Access at 4:55. Citations were
distributed.
*A deputy tended to a trouble-
maker at the back of Jubilee Park at
5:03 p.m.
*A concerned citizen was
worried about her 63-year-old friend
who commented on a shooting and
hadn’t been heard from since. When
JCSO contacted the woman, she was
fine, but she had heard gunshots eight
miles from CJ.
*Law enforcement chased a
dude with dreads and a skateboard
near South Forks Bridge at 5:40 p.m.
He was seen floating downstream and
swimming to the south side of the
river, but may have run up a dirt path
leading to a park. A report was filed
for third-degree escape.
Monday, July 3
*A fellow was recorded on
a dash cam when he dropped off a
BMW in the middle of the street in the
1000 block of Idlewild Drive at 9:42
a.m. He claimed the car belonged to
his girlfriend. The BMW was towed
because it was a road hazard, but
the owner could not be contacted. A
registered letter was mailed to her,
advising her of the tow.
*The saga of Queen of Bronze
Road continues as trajectories flew
from the 100 block of Cowboy Way
at 7 a.m. June 30. Rocks and bullets
rained down upon a garden tractor,
as a whacko yelled “Take that, you
(censored)”. A slingshot thwap was
heard prior to the objects landing, and
more projectiles were found on roofs
and rain gutters. Photos were included
in the email sent to JCSO. It was
logged as BAR.
*Law enforcement captured
a criminal in the 300 block of S.
Redwood Hwy. at 11:10 a.m. Jesse
Thomas Hopwood, 34, was detained
in Josephine County Jail following his
arrest on a JCSO felony warrant. He
was charged with failure to appear on
felony elude, possession of meth, and
reckless driving.
*There seemed to be suspicious
activity in the 400 block of Addison
Lane July 1 between 11 a.m. and 2
p.m. A white Honda and black Suzuki
Trooper had Oregon license plates
with identical numbers, and tires were
being swapped between the vehicles.
Temporary license notices were
frequently seen at this location, and a
citizen was concerned that this was a
chop shop for stolen vehicles.
*On June 30, a gal parked her
silver-colored Chevy Aveo in front
of Carlos Mexican Restaurant in the
100 block of N. Redwood Hwy. When
she left, she noticed a 12”x12” scrape
on the rear driver’s side bumper. A
witness claimed the vehicle was a red
car, and documented the license plate
number, but not the make and model.
Dept. of Motor Vehicles (DMV)
records list a van out of Oregon City.
*At 12:25 p.m. a woman claimed
that her home in the 300 block of
Clear Creek Road had been robbed
by a guy in a large black SUV with
large grenade decals. When a deputy
investigated, he learned that the couple
had been in a long-term relationship,
but the fellow wasn’t really living
there anymore. She had no idea what,
if anything, had been taken. The
incident was logged unfounded as a
robbery or burglary.
