Michael “Cole” Kobe
Teixeira died Tuesday, June 13, 2017
Cave Junction
in a single car incident at 2:53 p.m. on
Holland Loop Road in Cave Junction,
Oregon. He was 29 years old. He was the
beloved father of Shya Divine Teixeira;
a loving partner to fiancée Eliza”beth”
Pruitt and a friend to her son, Faolan
Ferrandino.
Cole was born October 7, 1987 in
Fall River, Massachusetts. Raised on the
Atlantic Coast by wonderful parents,
Christiano Teixeira, Jr. and Christine T.
Teixeira; with brothers Peter, Danny,
and Christian (C.J.) Teixeira; and
sisters, Heather Seiver, Melanie Collura,
Christina, Nickole, Breanna, Ariel,
and Skylar Teixeira; and niece, Chloe
Teixeira.
Raised with an intense love of
all sports; playing hockey, football,
basketball... and his favorites: soccer
and baseball, with his dad Chris often
coaching his baseball teams. Cole was a
great athlete who enjoyed competition,
yet maintained an inspiring attitude that
earned the respect of his coaches and
teammates. He remained a lifelong fan of
Boston’s Red Sox and The Patriots. He
instilled the importance of sportsmanship
into his son and attended all of Shya’s
soccer games. Cole never lost his love for
sports, and continued playing third base
for the Good Earth Organics Softball
team.
While Cole excelled at all things
athletic, he found his true passion in
music; creating and sharing music
inspired him. He had a heart for poetry

and lyrics flowed through his veins.
He found solace seated at the piano,
found joy teaching Shya and Faolan the
keyboard, and found a challenge teaching
himself guitar.
Cole’s overwhelming love for
animals eventually lead him to becoming
an avid vegetarian, and advocate for
humane treatment of all animals. He truly
felt most at home on the farm, gardening
and caring for animals gave him a sense
of purpose. He felt especially connected
to and inspired by birds; above all else,
he felt at peace watching or listening to
the myriad of peacocks, ravens, owls, and
hummingbirds around the farm. Holding
a hummingbird, that he rescued, just
before it flew away was an incredibly
rare experience that he treasured... just
one week before his tragic accident.
Cole was inspired by birds, for their
freedom of flight, and he fell in love with
the thrill of skydiving and also the quiet,
peaceful ascent in a hot air balloon. The
Sky was as limitless as he was. He had a
brave and adventurous spirit... traveling
to 54 countries in his 29 years. He loved
the beauty of Earth, hiking and rock
climbing to experience majestic views,
and was eager for the next adventure. He
loved the Water... SCUBA, deep water
free diving, cliff jumping, and swimming
in Oceans, Seas, Rivers, and Creeks all
across the world. He took pleasure in the
simple joy of swimming under the warm
sun with friends or strangers, loved ones
and the kids.
Cole inspired everyone he met,
he was kind and open, full of love for
everything under the sun, excited for life
and the adventure of being alive.
A Memorial Service was held at the
Illinois River Forks State Park June 20,
2017.
A Celebration in his honor will be
Friday, July 7, 2017 3 p.m. - Sunset for

deceased male identified
near snail Back Beach
On June 22, 2017, the Josephine County Major Crime
Response Team was activated per the request of the Josephine
County Sheriff’s Office due to a deceased male who was located
near the Snail Back Beach Trail, which is near the Illinois River in
Selma, Oregon.
The male’s identity was unknown at the time of the original
report. The deceased male has subsequently been identified as John

William Reitterer, 22 years of age, out of Crescent City, California.
Next of kin has been notified.
This is an ongoing and active investigation and no further
details will be released at this time. The Oregon State Police is the
lead investigative agency. Anyone with any information in regards
to the death of Mr. Reitterer is asked to call the Oregon State
Police Dispatch Center at 541-664-4600.
