Charges can be amended or dismissed.) *** Monday, May 15 *A white 1979 Toyota pickup truck disappeared overnight from a driveway in the 400 block of Addison Lane. *SOS contacted a home owner regarding an alarm in the 200 block of Cascade Drive at 10 a.m. *Four men with masks and guns were reportedly seen in the parking lot at 110 Deer Creek Road at 10:14 a.m. One wore a bullet-proof vest and carried a rifle. They were last seen in a black Toyota Tundra with salmon license plates and a broken tail-light. The intimidators were gone when law enforcement arrived. *All was fine when a deputy checked Jubilee Park at 11:18 a.m. *Sensitive souls are frustrated by their neighbor in the 9300 block of Takilma Road, because he plays drums and electric bass guitar at odd, random hours. The racket from a corrugated steel gate, barking dogs, chain saws, and weed whackers has been disturbing enough. Now the smells of garbage and human waste have added to their torment. They are requesting assistance from law enforcement, as well as Department of Environmental Quality. This was tagged as beyond available resources (BAR) by Josephine County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO). (There goes the neighborhood.) *Forks State Park was patrolled at 12:15 p.m. *A deputy made the rounds through the Tarter Gulch and Holland Loop areas at 12:39 p.m. *Joseph Jones, 30, was detained at Josephine County Jail following his arrest in the 400 block of W. River Street at 12:48 p.m. Jones had a statewide felony warrant from Grants Pass Department of Public Safety. He was charged with failure to appear on original charges of possession of meth. *Law enforcement captured another fugitive at 1:32 p.m. when the driver of a black Honda Civic was pulled over near E. River Street and N. Junction Avenue. Eric Kovis, 48, was detained at Josephine County Jail for a statewide felony warrant for failure to appear on charges of felon in possession of a firearm. He was also cited into Cave Junction Municipal Court for driving uninsured and while his license was suspended (DWS/V). *A motorist in a red Ford pickup truck was warned for improper display (of plates) at 1:50 p.m. near the intersection of S. Redwood Hwy. and W. Lister Street. *There was an activated alarm at 2:06 p.m. in the 3600 block of Dick George Road. *Law enforcement sniffed around for clues in the 100 block of Dogwood Lane at 2:14 p.m. *An unoccupied vehicle that was parked on Hwy. 199 near Briggs Valley Road at 2:17 p.m. was not a hazard. *A deputy gathered information at Cave Junction 76 station at 2:33 p.m. *The laundromat on Hussey WHERE’S THE ALARM? The volunteers and staff of the Illinois Valley Fire District Responded to these recent Emergency calls Monday 05/15/2017 200 blk S REDWOOD HWY, Medical Assist 1000 blk HAYS CUTOFF RD, Open Burn HOLLAND LOOP RD / TAKILMA RD, Traffic Accident Tuesday 05/16/2017 3000 blk LAKESHORE DR, Traffic Accident 200 blk OLLIS RD, Medical Assist 600 blk E RIVER ST, Medical Assist 24800 blk REDWOOD HWY, Traffic Accident E RIVER ST / LAUREL RD, Traffic Accident 7300 blk ROCKYDALE RD, Open Burn Avenue came up clean at 2:40 p.m. *A guy in the 400 block of Old Stage Road reported that his 1992 red Toyota pickup truck was broken into between 8 p.m. on May 14 and 6 a.m. May 15. His wallet was missing from the console, and a Stihl MS461-R chainsaw worth $1,000 was stolen from the back of the truck, where it had been secured with a cable and lock. A report was filed for unauthorized entry into a motor vehicle and second-degree theft. *The operator of a vehicle was pulled over at 3:01 p.m. at 434 Caves Hwy. He was warned for DWS/V and failure to carry proof of insurance, then advised to contact a licensed driver to bring his vehicle home. *Two people will be investigated further, following a traffic stop near the intersection of Lurline Lane and Laurel Road at 3:27 p.m. The registered owner was warned for DWS/V and no insurance. *Investigation continued in the Tarter Gulch and Holland Loop area at 3:39 p.m. *Two passengers bailed out of a black pickup truck with roll bars at 3:59 p.m., before a high-speed chase from Junction Avenue to Collier Tunnel. California Highway Patrol and Del Norte County deputies were alerted. *At 5:02 p.m., an individual at Holland Store was provided information regarding a disabled vehicle that was associated with a trespass at Panther Gulch. *A deputy patrolled near the E. Fork Bridge south of CJ at 5:55 p.m. *A motion detector provided security for a well-guarded feed shed in the 400 block of Caves Hwy. at 6:16 p.m. Outside the Valley *Sixteen incidents. Tuesday, May 16 *A motorist in a gray Toyota was pulled over at 1:04 p.m. near the intersection of Caves Hwy. and Laurel Road. The vehicle seemed to match the description of the pickup truck stolen from Addison Lane on May 15, but it was not the right Toyota. *A deputy had a chat with a guy in the 200 block of Dogwood Lane at 1:22 p.m. *At 1:22 p.m., more facts were unburied in the 100 block of Dogwood Lane. *Lurline Lane and Laurel Road were patrolled at 1:47 p.m. *Law enforcement made the rounds in the 100 block of N. Redwood Hwy. at 3:05 p.m. *Another deputy surveyed the 100 block of N. Redwood Hwy. at 3:25 p.m. *The driver of a red Buick was warned for failure to yield to a pedestrian in the crosswalk at the intersection of N. Redwood Hwy. at W. River Street at 3:45 p.m. *A deputy conducted foot patrol at Forks State Park at 3:57 p.m. *At 4:02 p.m. a deputy searched for a character on the north side of the E. Forks Bridge. *Law enforcement forged ahead in the 500 block of S. Redwood Hwy. at 4:21 p.m. *Their search was not in vain, as Antione Hess, 42, was located and detained at taser point near Wednesday 05/17/2017 Caves Hwy. and S. Junction Avenue at 4:31 p.m. He was transported to Josephine County Jail on a no-bail supervisory authority felony warrant for parole violation and assault. *A boy’s bicycle was stolen, and his uncle was teed off when he caught up with the bike and the suspected thief just past the Illinois Valley Golf Course on Hwy. 199. A report was filed for second-degree theft, and Justin Brian Taylor, 28, was detained at Josephine County Jail for probation violation. Outside the Valley *Twenty-one situations. Wednesday, May 17 *A fellow in a blue Chevy dually pickup truck reportedly pulled a weapon on a gal, and threatened to shoot her brother in the 400 block of W. River Street at 9:18 a.m. She locked herself in her home for safety. A deputy contacted all parties, but there was not enough evidence to pursue charges. He did provide advice regarding eviction options. *A lead-footed driver in a cream-colored Chrysler was speeding and almost ran another vehicle off the road at MP 18 on Hwy. 199 at 12:43 p.m. *Muffins, coffee beans, and energy drinks were stolen overnight from a business in the 100 block of N. Redwood Hwy. A report was filed for second-degree burglary, second-degree theft, and first-degree criminal mischief. Surveillance video footage may provide clues regarding the jittery thief.
