All persons listed are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Charges can be amended or dismissed.) *** Monday, May 1 *At 9:33 a.m. a resident in the 1600 block of E. Arrowhead Drive complained that neighbors have been harassing him since May 30, 2015. Nineteen incidents, ranging from gun shots to strong toxic smells, were recorded in minute detail, and that was just for 2015. Stay tuned for follow up with 2016 and 2017. *The operator of a 24-foot moving van was warned for speeding and no rear license plate at 10:30 a.m. in the 23500 block of Redwood Hwy. *Josephine County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) was notified at 10:32 a.m. that a 97-year-old woman died in the 500 block of Fernwood Drive. *Community oriented policing service was provided at Illinois Valley High School at 11:14 a.m. *Law enforcement responded to a report of a deceased person in the 37400 block of Redwood Hwy. at 11:15 a.m. *Jubilee Park was peaceful at 11:29 a.m. *On April 29, a bearded guy wearing a red shirt, camo hat, and rubber boots walked out of Shop Smart Food Warehouse at 10:35 p.m. The hungry man didn’t bother paying for his beer, sandwich, or chicken. Video footage recorded him and the license plate on his car, which returns to a black Acura. A report was filed for third-degree theft. *A heavy-set brunette wearing several bracelets on her right arm was spotted walking on Hussey Avenue at 11:45 a.m. Her warrant was confirmed, so she may soon be wearing a different kind of bracelet. *Between 8:30-9 a.m. May 1, a shabbily-dressed teen with a 4 foot skateboard was found sleeping in a business at 130 N. Redwood Hwy. It appeared that he kicked in the locked door to gain entry. The complainant suspected he may have been responsible for the break-ins at NAPA Auto Parts and a Chinese restaurant. A report was filed for second-degree criminal mischief, but was tagged as beyond available resources (BAR) by JCSO. *At midnight, someone in the 900 block of Garner Road was yelling and firing a weapon, which sounded like a .45 or a shotgun. Two months ago, he was doing the same thing, while standing on the top of his shed. A neighbor feared for the safety of her livestock, as well as the mental state of the shouting shooter. *A deputy investigated two gals at 222 W. Lister Street at 12:29 p.m., but they were not the subject of his search. *A report was filed with Rogue River Police Department that a brown 1974 Dodge Dart had been stolen. A woman claimed it had been seen near the intersection of Takilma Road and Waldo Road at 1:04 p.m., but it was missing the hood and had no license plates. Law enforcement did not find the Dart in the 8200 block of Takilma Road, but they did recover another stolen vehicle. The ignition was punched on an older Nissan pickup truck WHERE’S THE ALARM? The pickup appeared to have been hot-wired, and was towed to the impound lot. *A deputy attempted to contact an individual in the 100 block of Dogwood Lane at 1:10 p.m. *At 1:15 p.m., a woman stated that her black Kel-Tec .380 pistol was missing from the 6300 block of Lakeshore Drive. The last time she remembered seeing it was October 10, 2016. If, and when she does find it, she will notify JCSO. *There was a disturbance in the parking lot of Shop Smart Food Warehouse at 2:23 p.m. A husky fellow with a reddish-brown bushy beard forced open the door of a black Volvo with California plates. The bully in a cut-off t-shirt started beating the older guy in the car, then left in a white Nissan Titan before law enforcement arrived. *Traffic was backed up for a mile on Hwy. 199 after a motor vehicle ran into a tree at MP 19 at 2:49 p.m. *A deputy made the rounds near E. Fork Bridge at 2:53 p.m. *Everything was OK at 3:10 p.m. in the 300 block of Stevenson Street. (They only come out at night.) *A fugitive had a brush with the law during a traffic stop involving a Geo Metro at Schumacher Street and S. Boundary Avenue at 4:04 p.m. Luke Lancaster Combs, 36, had a warrant from Josephine County for failure to appear for second-degree criminal trespass and third-degree criminal mischief. He also had a restricted warrant from Grants Pass Department of Public Safety for failure to appear on charges of third- degree theft. He was cited to appear in Josephine County Courts on May 23. (What are the odds that he will show this time?) His companions were warned for failure to wear their seatbelts. *A character was warned for disorderly conduct at Speedy Mart at 4:30 p.m. *Law enforcement patrolled Jubilee Park at 4:35 p.m. *A deputy checked the dirt parking lot between Junction Inn and Shop Smart Food Warehouse at 5:06 p.m. *The 18200 block of Redwood Hwy. was OK at 5:59 p.m. Outside the Valley *Twenty-six incidents. Tuesday, May 2 *A damsel was up a creek without a paddle after she fell from a kayak into the Illinois River at 12:09 p.m. She was not hurt, but she was on the opposite side of the river from any road access. She could not safely swim across because of the currents, and she had no shoes to walk out. Josephine County Search and Rescue responded and brought her to shore, soggy but safe. *The driver of a red Ford was warned for expired registration when he was pulled over near E. River Street and N. Old Stage Road at 12:32 p.m. *A motorist in a beige Subaru was cited for driving with a suspended license (DWS/V) at 12:36 p.m. at 535 E. River Street. He was warned for obstructed view, and for failure to carry proof of insurance and registration. *The operator of a white Ford was stopped at 1:10 p.m. near E. River Street and N. Old Stage Road. He was reprimanded for speeding in a school zone. *Joseph David Ainsworth, 38, was detained at Josephine County Jail following his arrest at Jubilee Park at 1:21 p.m. Ainsworth had a felony warrant from Josephine County for failure to appear on charges of second-degree burglary and first-degree criminal mischief. *A driver in a silver-colored Grand Caravan learned a lesson after being pulled over near E. River Street and N. Junction Avenue at 1:24 p.m. He was cited to Josephine County Municipal Court for DWS/ V and uninsured driving. He was warned for speeding in a school zone. *Cassandra Conn, 27, seemed to live up to her name when she was arrested on a no-bail warrant for failure to appear on charges of identity theft. Conn was detained in Josephine County Jail after being taken into custody in the 200 block of Millie Street at 2:27 p.m. *COP service was provided at Speedy Mart at 3:01 p.m. *A shirtless dude scaled a fence near Illinois Valley High School, then ran off into the woods on the corner of S. Old Stage Road at 3:32 p.m. *Two rowdy chaps were physically fighting in a parking lot in the 300 block of Caves Hwy. at 3:39 p.m. When they found out that law enforcement had been called, they took off in a white Honda and a newer model Toyota pickup truck.
