Charges can be amended or dismissed.) *** Sunday, April 2 *An activated motion alarm at an exterior shed at 434 Caves Hwy. was tagged as beyond available resources (BAR) by Josephine County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) at 10:11 a.m. *The driver of a gold-colored Toyota Camry was pulled over by law enforcement at 4:53 p.m. at 24810 Redwood Hwy. He was warned for no seatbelt and failure to carry insurance. *A motorist in a black Nissan was warned for speeding and no seatbelt at 5:33 p.m. near Glendon Road and Hathaway Drive. *At 6:03 p.m. a motorcyclist crashed at Hayes Hill. A witness stated it appeared that the biker was cut off by a vehicle that failed to maintain lane, and that both were traveling at a high rate of speed. Outside the Valley *Eight incidents. Monday, April 3 *Alert witnesses provided JCSO with the license plate number of the pickup truck involved in the motorcycle crash on Hayes Hill on April 2. But the participating parties have not contacted law enforcement. *A deputy was quick to provide community oriented policing (COP) at Speedy Mart at 12:53 p.m. *A van was apparently abandoned at 28288 Redwood Hwy. It had been parked alongside Hwy. 199 since March 31, and as of 1:03 p.m. the vehicle had not been vandalized (yet). *Rough and Ready Lumber closed, but the facility and equipment remain on site in the 30300 block of Redwood Hwy. A surveillance system captured video of a former employee who took $2,000 worth of various items that were stored at the mill. The employer did not wish to pursue charges, but law enforcement assisted in the recovery of the stolen property. *JCSO investigated in the 300 block of Hanby Lane at 2:26 p.m. *A fugitive emerged from his cave and was arrested by security at Josephine County Court at 2:41 p.m. George Griffin, 52, was in custody for an out-of-county warrant. *Law enforcement did not find who they were looking for at 3:05 p.m. at Speedy Mart. *The operator of a Nissan pickup truck was warned for failure to register and a broken rear tail light lens near Caves Hwy. and S. Redwood Hwy. at 3:11 p.m. *The intended recipient of a restraining order (RO) was not available at 3:30 p.m. at Junction Inn. *A lead-footed driver in a silver-colored car was warned for speeding and cited for unsafe passing on Redwood Hwy. near Draper Valley Road at 3:34 p.m. *Law enforcement assisted with a disabled Allero motorhome at 4:01 p.m. near S. Redwood Hwy. and W. Watkins Street. The driver was cited into Cave Junction Municipal Court for failure to display plates and carry insurance. *A deputy was unable to serve an RO at 4:33 p.m. in the 4500 block of Dick George Road. *COP services were rendered at 5:39 p.m. at 110 Deer Creek Road. Tuesday, April 4 *A green Honda CRV was stolen overnight from the Red Garter parking lot, but the owner located his vehicle in the 600 block of Frederick Court at 9:36 a.m. The tires, wheels, and a laptop were missing, and older tires had been placed on the Honda. The unarmed owner blocked the car in, while three schmucks left the scene, saying they were going to retrieve the missing items. A gal on the scene was upset when the Honda owner wrote down her license plate number. She probably wasn’t too thrilled with her cohorts who never returned, so she consented to a search of the residence. He recovered his CRV, and a report was filed for unauthorized use of a motor vehicle (UUMV), first-degree theft, and second-degree criminal mischief. *An unauthorized individual was seen sneaking out of the beer cave and south door at Shop Smart Food Warehouse at 3:15 p.m. April 3. Employees stopped him, retrieved two six-packs of beer, and photographed the intoxicated fellow. A report was filed for third-degree theft. *At 11:12 a.m., a husband spotted his wife’s stolen green Toyota pickup truck at Napa Auto Parts, then again at a business in the 200 block of N. Old Stage Road. The truck sported new bumpers and Washington license plates, but he just knew it was his wife’s truck, due to a distinctive scratch near the back end of the truck. The driver told him that it wasn’t his Toyota, but he requested that law enforcement check the VIN anyway. The deputy advised that this indeed was not the stolen vehicle. (Oops.) *The front license plate was seized from an Isuzu in the 900 block of S. Old Stage Road at 12:33 p.m. There will be further investigation. *There was a disturbance in the 4800 block of Caves Hwy. at 1:12 p.m. because a guy was trying to repossess a greenhouse that he built, but never received payment. He hooked a trailer onto his vehicle, but he was having a difficult time removing the greenhouse, because it was built into the ground. A deputy advised of their options in this civil matter, and the builder was trespassed from the property. *A deputy was unable to contact the intended recipient of an RO at 1:50 p.m. in the 4500 block of Dick George Road. *There was a 911 hang-up call at 2:31 p.m. from the 500 block of Schumacher Street. *For the past year, there has been suspicious activity noted in the 600 block of Schumacher Street. It was reported that there were people coming and going day and night, fighting, and passing money and drugs through the rear window of the house. Large dogs run amok, and nearby residents requested help with the situation at 3:28 p.m. Notes were faxed to Rogue Area Drug Enforcement. *A yellow 1975 Nissan pickup truck with a white camper shell was swiped from the 300 block of Stevenson Street during early morning hours. A report was signed for UUMV at 4:46 p.m. *Law enforcement investigated in the 100 block of Dogwood Lane at 5:12 p.m. Outside the Valley *Sixteen situations. Wednesday, April 5 *A stripped blue Toyota was on the O’Brien side of Rough and Ready Creek at MP 34 on Hwy. 199 at 10:55 a.m. *The driver of a Nissan pickup truck was warned for speeding on Redwood Hwy. near Glendon Road at 11:20 a.m. *A deputy made the rounds at Forks State Park at 11:39 a.m. *Law enforcement gathered some information in the 3200 block of Waldo Road at 11:51 a.m. *The U.S. Postal inspector communicated with a deputy in the 25600 block of Redwood Hwy. at 11:54 a.m. *A motorist in a red Honda tried to flee during a traffic stop at 12:25 p.m. in the 100 block of S. Old State Road. License plates were recovered, but a stolen vehicle was not. An unnamed fugitive was transported to Josephine County Jail for felony elude, and possession of meth and stolen property. *At 12:27 p.m. a citizen in the 400 block of Kirkham Road was concerned because neighbors were continually shooting firearms, and they may not have a safe backdrop. *A motorist in a red vehicle was warned for improper display and driving with a suspended license at 1:21 p.m. near Illinois Valley Building Supply. *Law enforcement caught up with a guy wearing a green baseball cap and camo jacket at 1:33 p.m. in Jubilee Park.
