Continued from A-1 “There is a lot more to opening a city Facebook page than you would think,” Councilor Gillette said. “Anything that we put on the page would have to be official. This is not an informal Facebook page.” In order to follow public meeting laws, city staff and councilors will not be allowed to use social media to publicly discuss city business. City councilors and staff will only use the city’s Facebook page to inform people about city activities, promote city sponsored events and meetings, and provide information during emergencies. All links on the Facebook page will lead back to the official city website. It was then brought to the attention of the council that a number of addresses within city limits had been incorrectly assigned. The problem was brought to the attention of city staff by emergency services personnel. There is currently a discrepancy between the addresses as assigned by the city and the addresses as they appear in the GIS mapping software used by emergency services. This can lead to paramedics or firefighters showing up at the wrong address, which results in delayed emergency aid. The council instructed city staff to identify the improperly assigned addresses and to notify residents as soon as possible. The Cave Junction City Council meets the second Monday of each month, with additional meetings as needed. Meetings are held at 7 p.m. at City Hall, 222 W. Lister Street. The public is always welcome. Continued from A-7 Wednesday, March 15 *On March 10, a divorced guy with a bad temper was harassing his ex-wife and her family in the 7700 block of Holland Loop Road, so a stalking order will be sought. *The home owner in the 9500 block of Takilma Road provided more information regarding stake- stealers and trespassers on his stretch of the river. *Law enforcement patrolled the 300 block of Merlot Drive at 12:09 p.m. *A deputy checked the area near the bridge south of CJ in the 500 block of Hwy. 199 at 12:29 p.m. *SOS reported an alarm at the main entrance to the Oregon Caves in the 19000 block of Caves Hwy. at 12:30 p.m. It was BAR. *Information was obtained at 12:48 p.m. in the 400 block of E. River Street. *Facts were gathered in the 100 block of W. Lister Street at 12:59 p.m. *A driver was warned for speeding in the 27000 block of Hwy. 199 at 3:03 p.m. *A motorist in a black Pontiac was stopped at the Junction Inn at 3:58 p.m. *Jubilee Park was patrolled at 4:30 p.m. *Law enforcement stopped a blue Chevy Suburban at White School Road and Hays Cutoff at 4:45 p.m. The driver was warned for failure to carry proof of insurance and failure to maintain lane. *Another achievement for JCSO: Michael Massey, 36, was arrested on a warrant for second- degree criminal mischief at 5:49 p.m. at N. Sawyer Avenue and W. River Street. Outside the Valley *Fifteen entries. Thursday, March 16 *Amidst all the mayhem in Josephine County, a resident in the 9300 block of Takilma Road complained that his neighbor was tormenting him from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. March 15. Noise issues involved chain saws, power tools, a bulldozer, electric guitar, and drums. The frustrated fellow wondered what he could do to stop the racket and regain the peace he used to have in his home. (Move?) *Two guys caused a disturbance in the parking lot of the Illinois Valley Siskiyou Medical Center at 11:42 a.m. One caller claimed it was a knife fight between transients, but other witnesses described an argument between a father and his son. The family feud broke up once law enforcement was summoned. *SOS reported an alarm error in the 200 block of N. Redwood Hwy. at 1:33 p.m. *Who was that masked man, carrying a rifle while walking down N. Old Stage Road towards Fir Drive at 4:09 p.m.? *At 5:26 p.m., ADT phoned a home owner regarding an alarm in the 5600 block of Deer Creek Road. Outside the Valley *Sixteen incidents. Friday, March 17 *A 911 hang-up call came through from the 300 block of S. Redwood Hwy. at noon. *JCSO assisted Josephine County Search and Rescue in O’Brien at 1:54 p.m. *At 3:54 p.m., a gal was helping her mother remove her belongings from the 6400 block of Takilma Road, but the property manager and a neighbor were making things difficult. A rude dude was “in their faces” and a guy was punched in the jaw, but the macho man claimed that it didn’t hurt. Outside the Valley *Eighteen listings. Saturday, March 18 *A motorist was pulled over by a deputy at noon near Laurel Avenue and Old Stage Road. He was warned for no plate light. *A driver on N. Redwood Hwy. and W. River Street was warned for a defective passenger tail light at noon. *At 12:07 a.m., JCSO chased a Nissan from S. Redwood Hwy., down Rockydale Road onto Raintree Drive, where two hooligans bailed from the vehicle. The Nissan was towed, and a report was filed for recovered stolen property, felony elude vehicle, misdemeanor elude foot, and possession of a stolen vehicle. *An arrest was made in the 5300 block of Rockydale Road at 12:30 p.m., but the bad guy was unnamed in the JCSO logs. *Another deputy was stationed in the 5200 block of Rockydale Road at 12:40 p.m. for assistance as needed. *Law enforcement patrolled the area near Wood Creek and Waldo Road at 12:46 a.m. *An uncooperative resident in the 1100 block of Waldo Road wanted a trooper removed from his front yard at 12:48 a.m. In October 2014, he complained about Bureau of Land Management personnel on his property. *The operator of a gray Toyota 4-Runner was warned for a rear white light at 1:06 a.m. on Caves Hwy. at S. Redwood Hwy. *At 1:24 a.m., a motorist in the 200 block of S. Redwood Hwy. was cited for driving with a suspended license, and failure to carry proof of insurance. He was warned for no front license plate. *A chap was armed with a pellet gun in the 100 block of Hogue Drive at 1:48 a.m. *Two transients were harassing customers and employees in the parking lot at 110 Deer Creek Road at 10:13 a.m. because they couldn’t afford gasoline for their blue Jetta Passat and old green Ford pick-up truck. *A concerned citizen phoned 911 because people were removing items from a residence in the 300 block of S. Old Stage Road at 11:43 a.m. The home owner was deceased, and no one was supposed to be there. When law enforcement checked the building, all the windows were boarded, and the doors were secured with wood screws. The home had not been accessed. (Theme from the “Twilight Zone.”) *Another driver was warned for a defective tail light at 12:20 p.m. at MP 27 on Hwy. 199. *Hull & Hull Funeral Directors responded to the report of a deceased woman in the 37200 block of Redwood Hwy. at 12:35 p.m. *A deputy stopped a vehicle on Caves Hwy. at Laurel Road at 12:37 p.m. The owner registered the car two days prior, but the Department of Motor Vehicles could not locate the transaction in their system. *An abandoned jalopy was towed from Caves Hwy. and Holland Loop at 12:45 p.m. *Law enforcement checked the Josephine Campground at 2:05 p.m. *Campers from Alaska overstayed the 14-day limit at MP 2 on Eight Dollar Road at 2:27 p.m. Outside the Valley *Sixteen items. Sunday, March 19 *JCSO was notified at midnight of a deceased person in the 7600 block of Rockydale Road. *A green pick-up truck was being driven very fast and passing vehicles on S. Redwood Hwy. at Caves Hwy. at 9:49 a.m. There were no deputies in the area to catch him. *An alert citizen believed that dopers were dealing drugs from a gold or bronze-colored Chrysler that was parked at 112 S. Redwood Hwy. at 4:26 p.m. There were crack pipes in the vehicle, but no license plates. *At 4:34 p.m. a guy in the 8000 block of Holland Loop complained about a gal that came over and attacked him, broke his property, and was using drugs in his trailer. He was very agitated, but then decided that he no longer wanted to report anything, and he was just going to let it go. *The motorist in a red Dodge was warned for speeding at 4:55 p.m. near True Value. *Law enforcement caught up with the gold or bronze-colored Chrysler with no license plates at 5:26 p.m. on S. Redwood Hwy. at W. Lister Street. The driver was cited into CJ Municipal Court for failure to provide proof of insurance. He was warned regarding the complaint received earlier regarding drug dealing and crack pipes. *At 6:02 p.m. a Camaro was towed from the ditch at Redwood Hwy. and Briggs Valley Road.
