Charges can be amended or dismissed.) *** Monday, Nov. 7 *Things were heating up next to Tropical Island Tans when a prop- erty owner smelled cigarette smoke coming from the upstairs attic area at 131 N. Redwood Hwy. at 10:06 a.m. Josephine County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) cleared the building, then searched for a woman who apparent- ly had merchandise from the smoky store. A report was filed for sec- ond-degree burglary, second-degree theft, and second-degree criminal mischief. *JCSO stopped a vehicle with Georgia license plates at 11:35 a.m. on Redwood Hwy. at Reeves Creek Road. Everything was peachy. *Investigation continued in the 100 block of S. Old Stage Road at 1 p.m. *Forks State Park was peaceful at 1:06 p.m. *An abandoned vehicle was reported at Jubilee Park at 1:23 p.m. *Details were provided for administration from 650 Redwood Hwy. at 1:27 p.m. *The driver of a white vehicle was cited for failure to obey a traffic control device (FTOTCD) (aka stop sign) and warned for failure to carry proof of insurance. This occurred at 3:32 p.m. on Schumacher Street and S. Boundary Avenue. *Security personnel from 406 S. Redwood Hwy. reported a possible intoxicated driver in a red Ford pickup truck at 3:51 p.m. The bearded guy took off after he got into an argument with his spouse. He reportedly left beer laying in the parking lot. (A clear case of alcohol neglect.) *Another FTOTCD, this one was the operator of a silver-colored vehicle at 4:08 p.m. at Jubilee Park. *A motorist in a white Honda was warned for speeding on River Street at Hwy. 199 at 4:47 p.m. Outside the Valley *Ten incidents. Tuesday, Nov. 8 *JCSO did some research at Illinois Valley High School at 10:43 a.m. *A land owner in the 200 block of Stevenson Street had not seen the tenant for a week, so he put up notices at that location. People who were not even tenants were inside the unit, so the land owner phoned law enforcement at 12:03 p.m. This was a civil matter, as the folks had permission to be there by the tenants. *JCSO checked 156 Ollis Road at 12:29 p.m. *Between 7:30 and 8 a.m. on Nov. 7, a large pit-bull type dog charged a man and his wife, who was in a wheelchair in the 100 block of S. Sawyer Avenue. The black and white canine with a red harness bit the husband on his left leg in the calf area. Josephine County Animal Control was informed that the ag- gressive dog is believed to live on Sawyer Avenue near the corner of Schumacher Street, and that others have reported this dangerous dog in the past. *At 12:42 p.m., the operator of a silver-colored Cutlass was cited for driving with a suspended license and failure to register vehicle. The negligent driver was cut loose with a warning for failure to carry proof of registration and FTOTCD. *Everything was on the money at the Eight Dollar Bridge river ac- cess on the west side at 12:45 p.m. *All was fine with a citizen at 205 W. Watkins St. at 12:57 p.m. *At noon on Nov. 8, a landlord checked on a squatter who had been served an eviction notice and should have vacated from the 300 block of June Drive by Nov. 4. He called to the tenant, but only heard dogs barking inside the house. When he opened the unlocked door to check on the dogs, the tardy tenant kicked the door closed on his hand. The landlord is working through the courts to get a writ of execution. *A gold-colored vehicle that had been abandoned at Jubilee Park was towed away at 1:15 p.m. *It seemed suspicious that a brown 1996-97 GMC 4x4 pickup truck would need to be started with a screwdriver. The truck parked in the 300 block of June Drive was reported as stolen on Sept. 22, but no one could locate the victim to obtain ownership documents. *On Nov. 7 between 7:15-8 p.m., a 90-year-old man in the 400 block of Addison Lane was watch- ing TV when he heard a loud sound. His front window was broken, and a cabinet in the dining room had been damaged by a 3-inch rock. The cost to replace the window was estimated at $300. A report was filed for sec- ond-degree criminal mischief. Outside the Valley *Fifteen situations. Wednesday, Nov. 9 *There was an abandoned vehicle on White School Road near Caves Hwy. at 9:04 a.m. It appeared to have been crashed, and the igni- tion was punched. It was tagged to be towed on Nov. 10. *An unclear 911-call was received from the 300 block of Clear Creek Road at 10:46 a.m., with muffled yelling heard in the back- ground. A guy and two gals had been arguing for the last two days. Advice regarding community resources and options was provided. *Illinois Valley Little League reported a burglary that occurred to their equipment building at Jubilee Park on Oct. 19 at 7 p.m. There was damage to the door and to a score- board, and some poor sport stole their bats and baseballs. A report was filed for second-degree burglary and second-degree criminal mischief. There may be suspect information. *A deputy was at 220 S. Red- wood Hwy. at 11:55 a.m. *JCSO provided Community Oriented Policing at the O’Brien Country Store at 12:02 p.m. *Information from the “Stolen Vehicles in Josephine County” Face- book page claimed that there was a vehicle wrecked into a tree near Old Redwood Hwy. and Westside Road. The license plates belonged on a Town Car, but it should have been a 2005 Dodge Dakota, per the Med- ford Police Department at 12:43 p.m. The deputy was unable to locate the vehicle despite an extensive search. *An incident in the 7200 block of Rockydale Road was unfounded as domestic violence, but the out-of- control couple was separated to keep the peace at 1:43 p.m. *Scott Cook got himself into hot water at 2:31 p.m. when he refused to leave the 600 block of Sherwood Avenue. He was detained at Josephine County Jail due to a fourth-degree assault charge. *At 4:40 p.m. on Hwy. 199 and Caves Hwy., the operator of a white Oldsmobile was warned for im- proper display of license plates with expired tags. Outside the Valley *Sixteen entries. Thursday, Nov. 10 *A wacko was yelling and cussing, scaring children in the playground at Jubilee Park at 11:23 a.m., but was gone by the time law enforcement arrived. *At 2:09 p.m. a gal in the 200 block of Kerby Street complained that her neighbor screamed that she put poison on her lawn to kill her dogs if they came onto her property again. The gal was advised regarding obtaining a stalking order. She was also instructed to keep her dogs in her own yard. Outside the Valley *Fourteen incidents. Friday, Nov. 11 *A gal phoned 911 because her family refused to leave her hotel room in the 400 block of S. Redwood Hwy. at 10:50 a.m. They wanted to talk about her personal issues and to help her, but she was denying that she had a problem. Her brother told JCSO that law enforce- ment has refused to help them get assistance for his sister, so he was not leaving. The intervention was adjourned shortly thereafter. Outside the Valley *Eight listings. Saturday, Nov. 12 *Amazingly, there were no logged calls to JCSO from the Il- linois Valley. Kudos to all! Outside the Valley *Twenty items.
