Illinois Valley News, Cave Junction, Ore. Wednesday, April 13, 2016 Mahkayla Sommers catches a pitch during a home game against Brookings April 2. LETTERS ... Continued from A-2 Then, like a bolt from the blue (Note: Blue is the assigned color for the Dems) and with a slap to the forehead, I was able to see through the fog of macro-economics and justify this seeming mega-spending by the govt. with the following analogy. Imagine your house is worth $1,880,000 (you owe about $200,000 on the mortgage) and it desperately needs $10,000 in repairs to a very leaky roof. You can borrow $10,000 from the bank at near zero percent interest (you are a very favored customer). Remembering the repairs are absolutely necessary, would you take the deal? If you answered “Yes” to this solution, congratulations! You stand with Bernie because, it turns out, the value of the entire USA, lock, stock, and barrel, is estimated at $188t! Subtract the debt/mortgage of $20t The 2016 IVHS baseball team has been off to a rough start. To date the boys are sitting at 2-10 record with both wins against Umpqua Valley Christian. League play started April 12 against Cascade Christian in Medford, after deadline. The boys return home to play Lakeview April 19. The 2016 Lady Cougar softball team is also struggling to get wins. The ladies also own a 2-10 record. Their first League game also was April 12, against Cascade Christian in Medford, after newspaper deadline. Lakeview comes to town April 19. Page A-3 2 Cougar grapplers place at state equals $168t. Bernie wants to dedicate, over time, $1t for infrastructure, borrowable now at near- zero percent interest rates. Sounds like a plan to me, but I’m left of center, i.e. what’s good for society is good for me, the individual. (I suspect my friend, a Libertarian, would say what’s good for the individual is good for society.) If you don’t believe America’s infrastructure is in sore need of help, we’ll disagree. If you agree that restoring, repairing or replacing our nation’s worn-out infrastructure by borrowing 1/168th our net equity, (nearly) interest-free will mean millions of private- sector jobs and a certainty of American competitiveness for a couple generations, then vote for Bernie in the primary and Democrats in the national. Remember, two wrongs don’t make a right but three lefts do. (Thanks, Jim.)
