Charges can be amended or dismissed.) *** Monday, Aug. 18 *In the 1800 block of Rockydale Road a resident caught a gas stealer in the act. The complainant took his photo, and he fled. *An officer went to the Holiday Motel in Kerby. *Some sort of confusing (to the writer) situation involv- ing a purse, a key and stolen vehicles occurred near Valley Evangelical Free Church. *Something happened in the 1700 block of Rockydale Road. *His vehicle was stolen, said a man in Downtown Cave Junction. (This might be related to the “confusing situation” above.) *A juvenile person was arrested in Kerby in connection with a reported stolen car (again with the “confusing situ- ation.” The accused thief’s name was not in the log [NIL] due to the foolish law about not using the names of juvenile persons charged with crimes). Outside the Valley into again. It was said that vagrants were sleeping there, and that drug paraphernalia was found. *His mailbox was knocked down and heavily damaged, said a resident of Mesa Verde Drive. The box was repaired and replaced, but the next night the entire box was taken. Sev- eral other neighbors have reported similar incidents. (Can’t imagine the thrill that half-wits get by smashing or stealing someone’s mail box.) *The plastic sheeting on her storage shed window was ripped off in what looked to be an attempted break-in, said a woman in the 23000 block of Redwood Hwy. No entry was made and nothing was taken. (Don’t some people have any- thing better to do?) *An incident that occurred on Aug. 8 around 11:30 p.m. was reported on Aug. 12, according to this date’s log. Basi- cally, a man said that his intoxicated ex-wife came to his place in the 900 block of Caves Hwy. and broke items and tried to hit and kick him. And several actions by her involving theft and vandalism also were reported by the complainant. *Someone (NIL), who has been “trespassed” from Ray’s Food Place in Selma, came back. The manager wanted the incident logged for information. *A woman, called “crazy” by the complainant on Hogue Drive, accused the latter of stealing her ATV. He said that she threw “some things” at him. She refused to leave the place, but finally did, and someone said that she had a vehicle parked nearby. *A complainant found that the Illinois Valley Grange building had been broken into. There was damage to two doors and various items were missing. (A den of thieves on welfare?) *On Ollis Road a woman found that the fuel tank door on her vehicle was damaged when someone tried to pry it open with a knife, which she has in her possession. No other damage to the vehicle was noted. *In the 10000 block of Takilma Road a man said that three women, including his wife, were pounding on his door in what is described as harassment. They eventually left after the complainant, who was in a closet, yelled at them. (Sounds scary). Outside the Valley Outside the Valley *A busy time with 29 calls received. Tuesday, Aug. 19 *It appeared that some poor soul, a woman in her 60s, had “been abused and dumped off” at Jubilee Park by a man driving a car with Alabama license plates. She had all her per- sonal belongings with her. She had some minor injuries. The reported was filed as informational. *Following a complaint of restraining order violation (ROV), Timothy Kim Cooper, 54, was arrested on a charge of ROV and taken to Josephine County Jail in Grants Pass. *Assistance was rendered in Downtown Cave Junction after someone entered a vacant building and emptied a bottle of used hypodermic needles onto the floor. They took the bottle. (The building owner believes he knows who did it). Outside the Valley *Some calls received. Wednesday, Aug. 20 *From the 11000 block of Takilma Road around 11:30 a.m. came a 911 hang-up call. Upon call-back, no one an- swered. The call was termed beyond available resources (BAR) by Josephine County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO). *A bank-owned house in the 500 block of N. Old Stage Road, broken into several times in recent months, was broken *Shortly past 8 a.m. there was a door alarm from the Illi- nois Valley Fire District’s Holland Loop Station. JCSO logged it as BAR. *Some sort of officer contact was reported in the 24000 block of Redwood Hwy. around 1:17 p.m. *Ransacking and burglary were reported on Arrowhead Drive. *Would you believe 19 calls ... Monday, Aug. 25 *Someone somehow entered her home, said a woman in Selma, and stole her birth certificate and Social Security card. And, she added, they took 500 bucks cash. (Yikes!) *Also in Selma a man said that another man violated a restraining order (RO) by texting him and revving his engine. However, the complainant was advised that the RO had not yet been served. *Oregon State Police advised JCSO of a report that someone driving a gold-colored sedan was weaving all over the asphalt of Redwood Hwy. southbound from Deer Creek Road. *Near Cave Junction City Hall, a woman was “yell- ing and screaming at no one” while “walking back and forth across the highway.” Someone who knows her followed her, and they were sitting under a tree at the LDS Church building. The woman was “advised of several housing options” and was termed “not a danger to herself or others at this time.” *Two people in Illinois Valley were yelling at each other during a 911 call at 10:20 a.m., possibly from an unknown location where there was a previous 911 hang-up call. Seems that a woman was “trying to get her kids ready for a WIC ap- pointment and her husband wasn’t helping” so “they were in a ‘verbal’.” *Valley Auto Wreckers phoned to report that it was send- ing a tow truck out Illinois River Road to retrieve a vehicle over an embankment. It was unknown why the company phoned JCSO and why no one had phoned 911 to report a crash. *Shortly past 11 a.m. a domestic violence call was received from the Josephine County Bldg. in CJ involving a woman whose husband wasn’t letting her leave the site. He threatened to flatten her car tires, but didn’t (apparently), as she eventually was able to drive away. *In Downtown CJ a person was contacted by a deputy. The log notation is that the “subject was unhappy, but unwill- ing to provide any specifics about an incident.” Illinois Valley Fire District responded to these recent Emergency calls… Outside the Valley *Received 10 calls today.
