Charges can be amended or dismissed.) *** Tuesday, July 15 *At the request of the Dept. of Human Services (DHS), a deputy stood by at a residence on Dogwood Lane while a caseworker conducted a home assessment because of a report that drugs and weapons were visible inside. It was noted that the occupant had shot at someone last week because they were trying to steal parts. (Parts of what not identi- fied). *Following a traffic stop at N. Redwood Hwy. and E. River Street someone not identified was issued a nonspecified citation. *There was a 911 hang-up call from E. River Street, but no prob- lem was located. *“Rebecca” was cited on Old Stage Road on a charge of driving while suspended, and a Jerry’s Tow- ing driver gave her a ride home, as her vehicle was being impounded. *When a 911 Dispatch Center employee returned a hang-up call from O’Brien, a woman answered and then a man said, “Is it OK for a female I live with to push me around and I slap her hand away with mine when she swings at me?” No crime was detected. (Oh my ... ). *Following a traffic stop in the 27000 block of Redwood Hwy. someone not identified was issued a nonspecified citation. The motorist’s vehicle was removed by Jerry’s Towing. *A man was reported shoot- ing (a gun apparently) last night and was shooting at the time of the call at 12:28 p.m. and screaming that he was going to shoot people. Josephine County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) tagged the call as beyond available resources (BAR). *In Jubilee Park a deputy on foot patrol cited someone on a charge of having a dog off-leash at 1:28 p.m., and 10 minutes later he (the deputy) asked Illinois Valley Fire District (IVFD) to respond due to a spot of warm pine needles that had been burning. *In Downtown Cave Junction a deputy stopped a “30-foot flatbed car hauler with four cars on it.” Subsequently a probation officer asked for a detainer on the driver, resulting in the arrest of Michael Jason Phillips, 43, on a charge of probation violation. He was taken to county jail. Outside the Valley *There were 22 calls including the next two. *Jennifer Joy, 38, while at the Josephine County Jail in Grants Pass, was found by JCSO deputies to have “nine tabs of methadone.” Therefore she was arrested on a charge of unlawful possession of the substance and given accommo- dations. (Some say that’s why they call it “dope.”) *While a man was in the water at the “Jesus Saves swimming hole” on Lower Wolf Creek Road some- one sprayed white paint on parts of his teal-colored car, he said. Wednesday, July 16 *Regarding a call on Pinewood Way a county Animal Control of- ficer asked for a patrol deputy to assist. *Despite a residential burglar alarm on Idlewild Drive at 10:24 a.m. the call was termed BAR. *At around 1:40 p.m. there was a call from N. Old Stage Road that a woman had been pepper-sprayed by another woman. It turned out that three women were involved, as one sprayed the two to break them up, she was said to be in a “physical” regarding sewing needles and spun thread. No one wanted to pursue charges. (That’s quite a yarn). *There was a problem on N. Sawyer Avenue regarding an evicted tenant who might have been trespassing. *Jubilee Park was patrolled at 2:45 p.m. Outside the Valley *Nine calls were logged includ- ing theft of timber on BLM land in the Tarter Gulch area, and one involving a high-tech crime. No deputy was available. *Some sort of suspicious person wearing dirty clothes was reported walking on Dick George Road near Shadywood Drive. The Oregon State Police (OSP) office was notified, but apparently all was OK. *Three people, likely street folks, were contacted on the vacant lot next to the Junction Inn. *Word was received that around 4 miles up Happy Camp Road from Takilma Road a suspicious man, possibly wanted, was filling a water jug. OSP was notified. *Forks State Park was patrolled at approximately 12:25 p.m. with Jubilee Park added to the mix at 12:51 p.m. *At Redwood Hwy. and Lister Street a motorist was warned for having a defective right-side tail light. *There was a man lying under a motor home in the 500 block of Redwood Hwy., but he was appar- ently neither ill nor injured. No medical assistance was dispatched “based on the report that this is typical behavior for this man and he was conscious and speaking.” OSP was notified that the motor home was considered an abandoned vehicle. Outside the Valley *Of the 11 calls received one was about a woman on Foothill Blvd. who drank a whole case of beer by herself, but was said to be OK. Friday, July 18 *Kyle Nelson, 23, was arrested in Jubilee Park on a charge of pro- bation violation and then taken to county jail. *DHS asked for patrol deputy assistance on Pinewood Way during a check of a residence with chil- dren where there might have been unsanitary living conditions, and weapons and drugs. Three adults were checked; all apparently is OK. *The driver (not identified) of a vehicle stopped at W. River Street and N. Hussey Avenue was warned about defective brakes, and it could be that the driver’s passenger (also not identified in the log) was ar- rested under an OSP warrant. Outside the Valley *Among 13 calls was one in which a woman first phoned OSP, which contacted JCSO about the woman’s complaint that her ex-hus- band is involved in “illegal voodoo- ism and spyware” something or other.
