All persons listed are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Charges can be amended or dismissed.) *** Monday, July 7 *At 9:39 a.m. at Redwood Hwy. and E. River Street someone underwent a field interrogation for some reason. *At 9:57 a.m. three persons were warned about trespassing on the Junction Inn vacant lot between the JI and Shop Smart Food Ware- house. *From near the tennis court at Jubilee Park a dead body was re- moved by a funeral home shortly prior to 10 a.m. The body, according to the logs, was reported at 6:30 a.m. on Sunday, July 6. *The body of a deceased wom- an was removed from the Lake Sel- mac campground by a funeral home shortly after 10 a.m. *An employee with the Dept. of Human Services (DHS) was fol- lowing a vehicle out of Cave Junc- tion because she believed it to be a stolen vehicle. The driver of the vehicle began driving rapidly, and there was a small child in his car. The DHS employee was told to stop her pursuit, and the data was filed for information. *A citation to appear in Cave Junction Municipal Court for failure to wear a seat belt was issued to an unidentified motorist at the CJ 76 station. *Stephen Edwin Evans, 52, was cited in Downtown CJ to appear in court under two warrants charging failure to appear (FTA) on a charge of failure to perform the duties of a driver, and FTA on a charge of driv- ing under the influence of an intoxi- cant. *Following a complaint from a Selma resident about a vehicle with a flat tire parked the wrong way for more than 72 hours, a deputy wrote a citation on a charge of prohibited parking and left it on the wind- shield. *Another dead body was picked up by a funeral home at a home near the intersection of Caves Avenue and Watkins Street at 11:20 a.m. Outside the Valley *Seven calls were logged. Tuesday, July 8 *An attempt to serve a restrain- ing order (RO) was made in the 28000 block of Redwood Hwy. *Theft of both his vehicle’s li- cense plates were reported by a vic- tim on Laurel Road. *After her car, which did not run at the time, was stolen from Ad- dison Lane three months ago, she found on social media what appeared to be the vehicle in O’Brien. It was, and it was recovered. *At the intersection of Red- wood and Caves highways a motor- ist was warned about making an un- lawful right turn. *The driver of a black-and-or- ange motorcycle was cited at Caves Hwy. and Junction Avenue on charg- es of expired tags, driving while sus- pended (DWS) and lacking insur- ance. The bike was impounded. *Oregon State Police advised the Josephine County Sheriff’s Of- fice that a single-vehicle crash with- out injuries was reported at N. Red- wood Hwy. and E. River Street. A turn signal sign was knocked over. The driver of the white Toyota was cited by a deputy on a charge of not having an operator’s license. *In the 300 block of Caves Hwy. the driver of a gray motorcycle without license plates was cited on charges of DWS, lacking insurance and failure to display plates. His cy- cle was impounded. *In connection with a panic alarm on Boundary Street it was de- termined to be a “habitual problem with a key fob in pocket.” *Medford Police Dept. report- ed that one of its own on Rockydale Road is being harassed by someone on social media and threatening to kill him. The texter was advised to cut it out. *Somewhere on River Street a person was cited for violating a CJ ordinance about having a dog off- leash. Someone with the dog’s own- er was warned about interfering. *Fireworks and gunshots were reported in the 300 block of Page Creek Road. across Redwood Hwy. wearing plaid shorts, a gray tank top and black sunglasses. *Part of a camping area was checked off Deer Creek Road. Outside the Valley Friday, July 11 *The logs list 17 incidents in- cluding the theft of a shotgun. Thursday, July 10 *Noting that he “felt stupid” about the situation, a Valley resident reported that he must have left his car unlocked in Downtown CJ, al- lowing someone to remove a military ammunition box with approximately 450 rounds of several caliber pistol ammunition plus some .22 longs, all valued at $350. *Burglary and a home ransack- ing were reported by a resident of Naue Way upon returning from a July 4 holiday. *Jubilee Park was checked around 10 a.m. *A motor vehicle parked on the JI lot was checked. *Someone driving a golf cart was stopped at Caves Hwy. and S. Old Stage Road and warned about an illegal vehicle on a public roadway. *Assistance was rendered in the 27000 block of Redwood Hwy. in a situation involving an elderly, frail, disoriented and combative man. *An intoxicated and possibly high, belligerent would-be custom- er, who has been a regular problem, was causing trouble because Shop Smart wouldn’t sell him an alcoholic beverage. GUNS & AMMO 541-592-3349 WHERE’S THE ALARM? 2000 blk CAVES HWY, Gas Leak Outdoor 300 blk S JUNCTION AVE, Assist to Public 7300 blk ROCKYDALE RD, Assist to Public Illinois Valley Fire District Friday-07/11 900 blk KIRKHAM RD, Open Burn CAVES HWY/S REDWOOD HWY, Medical Emgcy 100 blk HOGUE DR, Open Burn The volunteers and staff of the responded to these recent Emergency calls… Outside the Valley *Some 18 incidents were re- ported including one in which a man said that numerous items valued at $2,500 were stolen from his vehicle on Jump Off Joe Creek Road; and another in which a woman said that either her ex-boyfriend or his friend stole a $3,300 rifle when the former moved out. *It seems that a man wearing a red T-shirt and dark trousers broke into a car on Old Stage Road and might have taken some items. *Outside the Josephine County Bldg. in CJ a sleeping transient was awakened shortly before 11 a.m. and told to get along. *From somewhere in Selma two 911 hang-up calls were received, but neither the caller nor the location were determined. *Because of ignoring a re- straining order obtained by her hus- band, an O’Brien woman’s actions resulted in a report to follow on two counts of violating said order. The husband said that she’s been living in her car and that besides following him she threatened to kill herself or burn the house. *Someone on Merlot Place was warned about parking alongside the lane for oncoming traffic. *Both sides were advised of their options following a disturbance connected to a dispute “about dog feces and garbage being thrown into the complainant’s yard.” Outside the Valley *Today there were eight calls. Monday, July 14 *Someone reported a reckless driver steering a silver-colored “Jeep SUV” in Jubilee Park around 8 a.m., but no officers were in the area. *An out-of-state landlord com- plained and asked for help evicting “tweekers” from his building in CJ. It appears that the eviction process worked, but now he’s faced with cleaning up their mess and damage. The landlord is grateful to JCSO for its assistance. *The O’Brien woman estranged from her husband was on the prop- erty sleeping in her car. *Around 10:30 a.m. a deputy patrolled Jubilee Park on foot. *The owner of a motorhome on Addison Lane was advised to get it off the sidewalk or it would be towed. *At the entrance to Jubilee Park an apparent juvenile person was cit- ed “for violation of driving restric- tions,” as he had “four minor males in the vehicle with him.” *Someone was cited on E. Riv- er Street because of expired vehicle registration. Someone else was cited in the vicinity for not wearing a seat belt. *The woman in O’Brien again was the subject involved in two counts of violating a restraining or- der. *Jubilee Park was patrolled again. *In Downtown CJ a person was warned about possession of illegal fireworks, and aerial fireworks were seized. Outside the Valley *Sixteen calls were received regarding various matters. One in- volved gunshots and screaming; there were some reported burglaries; and near a church, where he’d been hanging out, Doyne Russell Mc- Farlin, 52, was arrested on charges of attempted second-degree assault and resisting arrest. He was taken to county jail.
