Charges can be amended or dismissed.) *** Friday, June 13 *Two Oregon State Police (OSP) troopers responded to a call about a shooting around 5:30 p.m. at the High Pines Trailer Park in Kerby. OSP reported that Dennis Miller stated that Har- vey Peters, whose ex-wife, Cheryl, now is married to Miller, came to the site and argued with Miller. The latter got his 9mm pistol, hoping that Peters would leave, but he began swinging a shovel at Miller. After two warning shots, Miller wounded Peters in his upper-left thigh, and he left, but returned. But be- cause a crowd had gathered he left again and went to a location on Dogwood Lane. Later a friend took him to Three Rivers Community Hospital in Grants Pass. Saturday, June 14 *OSP responded to a location near Redwood Hwy. and E. Watkins Street after a report around 11 a.m. of “a hatchet attack,” and subsequently arrested Rhonda Lee Porter, 52, on charges of second-degree assault and attempted second-degree assault, and one of tampering with evidence. OSP stated that the victims were Stephen M. Evans, 52, and Michael S. Par- rington, 55. After the incident, in which Porter was said to be seeking money, she hid the weapon. A charge of attempted rob- bery was referred to the Josephine County district attorney. one wanted to admit their error?) *Someone phoned about a “loud, noisy bass and drum band” incident that occurred on Thursday, June 12 at 8:20 p.m. The complainant said, “My head is pounding with the noise in spite of windows and doors being closed.” *There was a complaint from Kerby that a man grabbed a 9 months pregnant woman around her throat and stomped on one of her feet. There is a no-contact order due to a prior fourth- degree assault incident. The complainant, said to be uninjured, didn’t want deputy contact unless the nasty bully returned, and was seeking a restraining order (RO). *Someone in the 6500 block of Holland Loop stated that around 1 p.m. a crash occurred and the vehicle was left in a ditch. They added that someone now pulled the vehicle out of a ditch and left it on the roadway. The owner, said to live on Caves Hwy., was going to get a spare tire and move the wreck. *From O’Brien a man said that he argued with his wife on the telephone, and she said, “When you get home, you’re gonna’ get it.” When he returned home “she got in my face and made several gestures like she was going to hit me, then head- bumped me and said for him to hit her.” He wanted it known that he “did not strike her,” and that he was getting an RO. Her action caused a blue mark on her nose, he stated. (Sounds painful). Outside the Valley *There were 24 log entries due to calls about one matter or another. Monday, June 16 *A case of forgery was reported in Selma. (A case of beer would be better). *There was a 911 hang-up call from the Illinois Valley Senior Center at 10:01 a.m., but no problem was located. (No Tuesday, June 17 *Behind Caves Pharmacy someone was warned about not signaling for a lane change. (Use those blinkers). *A landlord-tenant problem was checked on S. Kerby Av- enue. (800) 922-1025 *The peace was kept on Schumacher Street at 1:57 p.m. *In Downtown Cave Junction someone was served with a grand jury subpoena regarding a weekend incident in Jubilee Park. *On Waldo Road a man said he had recovered his stolen trailer and pickup truck, but that they had been ransacked. Outside the Valley *There were 20 calls. One was about a woman on Fish Hatchery Road, who reported a suspicious vehicle on her drive- way. Subsequently, Anthony Lynn Foster, 22, was arrested un- der a Grants Pass Police warrant charging failure to appear (FTA) on a charge of theft, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle (UUMV), attempt to elude and reckless driving, and under a Josephine County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) warrant charging FTA on a UUMV charge, reckless endangerment, second-de- gree criminal mischief and two counts of attempting to elude. Also possession of meth. (And he’s so young). Wednesday, June 18 *There was an attempt to serve an RO in the 28000 block of Redwood Hwy. *Cough syrup was listed as the cause of a woman’s over- dosing situation on E. River Street. A deputy responded to as- sist American Medical Response personnel. *The 911 Dispatch Center in Grants Pass “counseled” a caller from the 28000 block of Redwood Hwy. about the misuse of 911, as he said that he couldn’t reach JCSO for 30 minutes on his residence phone, and so called 911. Because of his call, a medical emergency call had to be put on hold, it was stated.
