Charges can be amended or dismissed.) *** Monday, April 28 *Quiet day in the Valley except: Shortly past 7 p.m. a trooper stopped a vehicle at E. River Street and Laurel Road because it was being driven on the wrong lane. After the officer exited his vehicle the driver took off in his Accord, and the trooper pursued it up a dirt road, but terminated pur- suit due to terrain. Shortly af- ter the Honda was found dis- abled farther up the road, but no one was around. Troopers in the Valley Sunday, April 27 *Following a pursuit in connection with a speeding vi- olation on Redwood Hwy. be- tween Selma and Kerby, Asa M. Martinson, 22, was taken into custody without incident. He was found in possession of a glass marijuana pipe and some hashish oil. He was cit- ed and released on charges of felony eluding, no operator’s license and no insurance. His vehicle was impounded. *Around 7: 30 p.m. Charles M. Praszek, 41, was extricated from his Blazer by Illinois Valley Fire District (IVFD) after he crashed head- on into a tree near milepost 33 of Redwood Hwy. and was trapped. Mercy Flights trans- ported him to Rogue Valley Medical Center in Medford with serious physical injuries. He was cited for driving with- out insurance and with a sus- pended license. His vehicle was towed. *A trooper checked the welfare of a woman in Selma after a friend couldn’t contact her. She was OK, and said Wednesday, April 30 *IVFD reported a possi- ble intoxicated driver after his pickup truck rolled onto one side at Lone Mountain Road and Naue Way. Two troop- ers responded, and a field test determined that the driver, Todd A. Strom, 47, was not impaired. The vehicle was towed. Deputies Doing Duty Monday, April 28 *Hull & Hull Funeral Home responded to a report of a deceased person on Schum- acher Street. Death was attrib- uted to natural causes. *Funeral home person- nel went to the 28000 block of Redwood Hwy. after some- one committed suicide, and in the 900 block of Caves Hwy. a death due to natural causes resulted in another transport. *Hull & Hull responded to the 24000 block of Red- wood Hwy. after a grand- mother was found lying on the floor. A death investiga- tion report was to follow. *Close to 1 p.m. a man was said to be attacking a woman at a Downtown Cave Junction business, and an employee was hurt due to re- straining the man. The suspect ran into some nearby woods and was not located. The busi- ness owner wants him “tres- passed” when he’s located. *Unscrupulous people stole a heat pump and a well pump from a rental property on Pinewood Way, said the owner. The latter expressed ire because of paying prop- erty taxes and not receiving protection for her property. *From Selma came a call that a woman’s Social Se- curity number had been used to file a fraudulent tax return. Outside the Valley *Of the nine calls re- ceived, one involved a run- away girl who has pink hair, and one was about a person who went to get a loan and found that $5,000 worth of charges had been made on a credit card with her name on it, but she doesn’t have it. Yeoman, 33, was arrested at the I.V. Sub- station in Cave Junction un- der a no-bail warrant charging parole violation on an original charge related to dangerous drugs. He was taken to Jose- phine County Jail in Grants Pass. *OSP reported to Jose- phine County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) that it had located a vehicle, reported as stolen to JCSO, in the 6000 block of Rockydale Road. *Burglary and possible squatters were reported on S. Caves Avenue. *A man said that he found license plates from two stolen vehicles on S. Old Stage Road. Outside the Valley *Twelve logged. calls *Burglary was noted on Hathaway Drive with the home owner stating in part, “This is the fourth time our place has been broken into since December. We have re- placed locks and increased security lighting and boarded the windows. This rash of burglaries has made our use of this summer home impos- sible at this point. We have set up another game camera. Our last one was discovered and taken. Our insurance company has been very cooperative up to last time, and I am afraid to report this to them. There was a $950 deductible with each occurrence and we did not meet that this time. I truly am very frustrated. Please help if you can.” Outside the Valley were *There were 18 calls logged. Wednesday, April 30 *Someone said that an abandoned horse trailer in the vicinity of Rockdale and Sherier roads was filled with trash and garbage, which was attracting bears. A deputy was told that the trailer had been emptied the day before the report, and checked the area, finding no rubbish. *Although an alarm company reported an intruder on S. Kerby Avenue, no one at the address could be con- tacted. Friday, May 2 *A runaway juvenile person returned home on Idlewild Drive. *Burglary in the first and second degrees was reported on Millie Street. *There was a call from Selma from a resident who stated that his Social Security number had been used fraudu- lently. *Someone driving a dirty van crashed into a chain link fence at the O’Brien store and left without bothering to follow the law. The driver also smacked into a utility pole and rear of the post office. A pole from the fence went through a wall. *Harassment and tres- passing were complained about on Draper Valley Road by a man who said that he had to fire someone for not doing the work he was supposed to and now the complainant is being threatened. The loss of 20 truckloads of wood also is part of the complaint. *Parked on a lot at a Cave Junction bank, a vehicle was reported as being aban- doned, as it’s been there for a week. *Theft of prescription drugs from a home in the 900 block of Caves Hwy. was re- ported. *There was a call from the U.S. Forest Service office that motorists are driving way too fast as they head south on Redwood Hwy. from Cave Junction. It was noted that speeds of 60 to 90 mph are probable. The CJ city deputy was to be advised, and ODOT was to be asked for a reader board showing the speed of approaching vehicles. Outside the Valley *Twenty calls came in on a variety of complaints.
