Charges can be amended or dismissed.) *** Tuesday, Feb. 26 *Josephine County Road Dept. was to be advised that a “Stop” sign at Laurel Road and Walters Drive was on the ground. *When a deputy arrived on Kirkham Road after a report of a dead body, the personnel from American Medical Response and Illinois Valley Fire District were no longer at the site. *In the 2800 block of Rockydale Road, a person was warned again about trespassing by having his trailer on public and private land. *There was a case of second-degree criminal mischief involving a bicycle in Downtown Cave Junction. *Some sort of traffic stop was conducted at Redwood Hwy. and Rockydale Road. *From rural Grants Pass: --Two men on a gravel bar near a restroom were warned about camping at Griffith Park. --Two men (hopefully not the two above) were warned about trespassing on Woodland Park Road after a woman said that she saw two guys with machetes, a gas can and a can of spray paint (they were on a scavenger hunt?). The woman is worried that they’ll return to “try something more horrible and kill her.” --Jewelry was reported missing from a box on Pinecrest Drive. --A Shepherd Hills Road resident was greatly concerned that “someone is watching” them after they found a trailer partially trashed. “This is getting scary and dangerous,” the complainant said. --Quite a few other incidents were also reported in the rural GP area; not nearly as many as in Illinois Valley. quiet day in Illinois Valley. However: *From rural GP: --A father on Riverbanks Road thought that he saw his runaway son getting on a school bus “with another girl.” --A man on Monument Drive lost his wallet with all his ID, driver license, Oregon Trail Card, debit card and miscellaneous grocery cards. --Someone’s daughter achieved identity theft, resulting in her mother being hit with nearly $6,000 worth of bills. --A “high-decibel frequency” device is being used against some people on W. Jones Creek Road, according to a complaint. Tuesday, March 5 *Someone on Mesa Verde Drive is convinced that someone is in his attic. He also believes that “all of his keys have been stolen.” *Harassment in the form of claims involving sexual relations were reported by a Selma resident. *Something happened on S. Kerby Avenue. *No one was around to Friday, March 1 *Children were assisted on Rockydale Road because the “mother has been suicidal and the father is volatile.” *Warnings for speeding and lane usage were given to a man near milepost 20 of Redwood Hwy. *Otherwise, it was a accept a warrant on Rockydale Road. It was another quiet day in the valley. *From rural GP: --Three people were arrested on three charges each of first-degree theft involving scrap metal reported taken from Foothill Blvd. *A woman with a large pit bull and seven puppies was acting erratically on Carton Way. At one point she tried to get into a private airplane. --Steven Paul Nielsen, 36, was arrested under a warrant charging felony DUI and driving while suspended or revoked. He was given a ride to county jail. --Some sort of incident involving a vehicle that needs to be towed, and a man with a rifle (who did not need towing) was logged from King Mountain Trail. --Back on King Mountain Trail there was a report of first- degree burglary and theft of several firearms. --It was stated that brothers took their father’s safe containing $50,000 to $70,000 from Ort Lane. Wednesday, March 6 *It was a calm day in the valley except on the far side of Selma a man was said to be trying to throw a woman into traffic on Redwood Hwy. *From rural GP: --A husband was upset because his wife was “causing an issue by throwing things.” --A large number of other incidents were logged, but none amounted to much, although one involved theft of seven puppies, and OSP took a woman into custody after she threatened to shoot them in the head. had a gun; and a man was using a butter knife to keep someone at bay. --When a shivering, injured dog showed up at a man’s door on Riverbanks Road, the Good Samaritan took care of the critter, and then, with a happy ending, the dog’s master came around, as he had been looking for the pet. --As usual, deputies were kept busy in this area dealing with a wide range of mostly mundane events. Thursday, March 7 Friday, March 8 *Talk about a slow day in the valley: A vehicle stop was conducted on E. River Street. From rural GP: --An environmental health hazard was complained about by people on Alexander Lane. They suspect illegal use of methamphetamines and maybe worse. --From Jerome Prairie Road came a complaint that someone who stole a woman’s cell phone is using it to harass her. --People reported that a woman’s teeth were knocked out on the back of a pickup truck by a man; that someone *Dreaded transients were said to be “consuming alcohol” in Jubilee Park. *Theft of timber was reported on Deer Creek Road. *A warrant was served on Pinewood Way. *An attempt was made to locate a stolen vehicle on Deer Creek Road. *No action was taken in connection with a vehicle stop on Reeves Creek Road. *From rural GP: --Several incidents occurred, but they’re hardly worth mentioning. So we won’t.
