All persons listed are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law Charges can be amended or dismissed.) *** Friday, March 18 * A dark blue 1985 Bronco, license YLK346, was reported missing from a driveway in the 400 block of S. Junction Ave. Animal traps valued at $200 and $1,200 worth of fishing equipment were reportedly in the vehicle. * Concerned for children at a nearby bus stop, a woman called law enforcement re- garding a homeless man in a maroon coat with a turquoise- colored guitar who was sleep- ing on a porch in Kerby. Saturday, March 19 * Deputies help in all kinds of ways. Assistance was rendered to a homeowner whose horse was tangled and kept falling over in the 1000 block of Reeves Creek Road. * William Barreras, 66, was issued a citation for sec- ond-degree trespass at Jubi- lee Park at 3:33 p.m. A short while later, at 5:06 p.m., he and Jimmy Richard Delzell were warned about interfering with public right of way on S. Redwood Hwy. and W. Wat- kins St. * Andrew Fritz Schle- initz, 30, admitted to being tired and hanging his head out of his car window to try and wake up, but it was alarming to other drivers on Hwy. 199, so he turned over driving du- ties to a passenger. * Larry, also known as “Turtle,” was allegedly head- ing towards Brookings in a full-size maroon Ford van af- ter punching a woman three times. Sunday, March 20 * CJ Subway employ- ees arrived at work and found a shattered outer front door, but the interior door was still locked. * Insulation valued at $599.15 was stolen by some- one who appeared to jump the fence at I.V. Building Supply on Caves Hwy. * Soap suds bubbled into the street from the water fea- ture at South Valley Bank on S. Redwood Hwy. * Multiple cannon shots or explosives of some sort rattled windows in the 7000 block of Rockydale Road at 5:10 p.m. Monday, March 21 * The dark blue 1985 Bronco reported missing from S. Junction Ave. on Friday was recovered. Word travels quickly in a small town like Cave Junction and suspect in- formation was soon passed on to deputies for further investi- gation. * A woman on Draper Valley Road is convinced that Muslims have installed a hy- draulic system under her house to raise and turn her house around. * Animal control officers were advised that a large black dog killed a neighbor’s dog in the 30500 block of Redwood Hwy. * Dogs were fighting and people were yelling and screaming at 180 Norman Road. * A man in the 100 block of S. Redwood Hwy. had a bloody nose after being kneed in the face numerous times by a “California Boy.” Several male antagonists were seen at 9:40 p.m. p.m. in a white Hon- da hatchback with California plates. * Several male juveniles were throwing eggs at vehicles just before 11 p.m. on N. Red- wood Hwy. at W. Palmer Ave. More egg-throwing was re- ported near the bridge on Hwy. 199 near Rockydale Road at 11:20 and 11:30 and egg shells were located near the entrance of the old Blue Marlin. The suspects were perched with empty egg cartons near Ham- ilton, but the chickens flew the coop before deputies arrived. ongoing problems at the Lake Selmac RV Resort, where someone was causing ruts by spinning 360s on the grass. * Has anyone seen the saw stolen from E. River Street and N. Redwood Hwy.? It was a Stihl model MS390, serial # 261253047, valued at $450. * Cave Junction mail- boxes are caved-in on a regu- lar basis; twice in the last three months at one location in the 2000 block of Thompson Creek Road. Tuesday, March 22 Thursday, March 24 * * Prowlers were reported at 12:07 a.m. in a boarded up house in the 300 block of S. Junction. The house had obvi- ous fire damage in the second story from arson three weeks prior. * Frontier phone compa- ny issued a repair ticket after numerous 911 hang up calls, probably from a loose phone line in an abandoned house in the 9000 block of Takilma Road. Wednesday, March 23 * Vandalism and theft are Beer cans were scattered all over the yard after a vehicle crashed into a gate in the 2500 block of Rockydale Road at 1:20 a.m. Reports of failure to leave a name at the scene of an accident with property dam- age and second-degree crimi- nal mischief soon followed. Weapons in the vehicle were also seized for safekeeping. * Yasuahuru Kondo, 38, who resides in Tokyo, Japan, lost his passport somewhere in the Cave Junction area. * Contents of a purse, in- cluding $40 cash, a bank card and an Oregon Trail card were stolen from a 1998 Dodge Grand Caravan parked in the 100 block of Airport Drive. A Motorola GPS unit was also taken from the van. * An intoxicated man was cussing, taking his shirt off and refusing to leave the Secret Trailer Park in the 900 block of Caves Hwy. * Mitchell Wayn Thoor- ton II was in custody on charg- es of first-degree theft, crimi- nal mischief and unauthorized use of a vehicle. (Presumably the 1985 Bronco II listed at the beginning of this week’s blot- ter). * Somehow a USA Today newspaper dispenser ended up at the bottom of a large ditch at the end of Fernwood Drive. Folks report that there is a lot of trash dumped in the area. * A blue Porta Potti was laying on its side in the south- bound lane of Old Stage Road near the Lorna Byrne Middle School track. It did not appear damaged (from the outside!). * Matthew Hollis stat- ed that he left his vehicle on Sherier Road at 11 p.m. on March 23 because he had locked his keys inside. When he went back, the vehicle was gone. He was not aware that his vehicle had been recov- ered from an accident at 2585 Rockydale Road. Where’s the Alarm?
