Wednesday, Oct. 21, 2009 Tickets available for Symphony show A limited number of free tickets are available for Jose- phine County students to at- tend a Rogue Valley Sym- phony performance. There are 140 vouchers for Josephine County students to attend the concert at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 8 at the Grants Pass High School Per- forming Arts Center, 830 N.E. Ninth St. Tickets are subject to availability and are distributed on a first-come, first-served basis. The concert will feature Mozart’s Symphony No. 20 in D, K. 133, Heitor Villa- Lobos’ Fantasia for Soprano Saxophone with guest saxo- phonist Rhett Bender, Ri- cardo Lorenz’s Pataruco: Concerto for Venezuelan Ma- racas and Orchestra with guest percussionist Terry Longshore, and Beethoven’s Symphony No 7 in A Major, Op. 92 all under guest con- ductor Dr. Martin Majkut. Vouchers for free tickets are distributed to area schools and music teachers, and may also be obtained from www.rvsymphony.org. News) Book & Author Fair set for Nov. 21 in Ashland A tradition will continue this autumn as book lovers and authors meet on Nov. 21 at Ashland Springs Hotel in Ashland, where the annual Southern Oregon Book & Author Fair will display liter- ary delights. This free, annual author fair has been a favored re- gional event since 2003, ena- bling the public to meet nearly 60 Northwest authors who are on-hand personally selling and autographing their books in time for holiday gift buying. The fair has been an an- nual tradition since 2003. This year’s fair will feature more authors residing beyond the immediate Southern Ore- gon region than last year.
