Troopers rescue missing
girl; warn of text contacts
A 16-year-old girl re-
ported missing from near
Sacramento was found by
two Oregon State Police
troopers near Grants Pass,
and a man with her was to be
charged by California au-
thorities on a charge of kid-
nap with intent to commit
rape, reported OSP.
The girl, said to have
diminished mental capacity,
was found on Interstate 5 in a
car driven by David A. Faboo,
37, a resident of Hillsboro,
Ore., said OSP.
Troopers had received
information last week from
Yuba County Sheriff’s Office
and Wheatland Police Dept.
about the girl. OSP said that
the girl used text messaging
to contact a friend, and that
the phone company helped
locate her by “cell phone
pings.”
OSP said it’s believed
that the girl had corresponded
with the suspect using text
messaging. They urged that
parents and guardians use
special care to ensure that
young persons do not become
ensnared in unwanted rela-
tionships because of such
contacts.

In John 9 we read about a
blind man cured by Jesus. This
man became a witness for the
savior, and a follower when he
realized he is the son of God.
Today, we also can wit-
ness and follow Jesus. Do we
have to be cured of an illness
before this happens?

OSP nabs meth, cocaine
Oregon State Police
troopers, assisted by a narcot-
ics detection canine, arrested a
Happy Valley-area man and
seized approximately 6 pounds
of methamphetamine and 1.6
pounds of cocaine concealed
in a vehicle during a Saturday,
March 1 traffic stop on Inter-
state 5 near Medford.
At approximately 10:45
a.m. OSP troopers stopped a
2001 Honda Civic for a speed
violation northbound on In-
terstate 5 near milepost 37.
The driver, Manuel Martinez-
Pardo, 24, gave troopers per-
mission to search the vehicle.
With the assistance of an
OSP narcotic detection ca-
nine, troopers found several
packages of suspected narcot-
ics. In total, approximately 6
pounds of methamphetamine
worth an estimated $96,000
and 1.6 pounds of cocaine
worth an estimated $15,000
were seized.
Martinez-Pardo was
taken into custody and lodged
at Jackson County Jail. He is
charged with unlawful pos-
session, delivery and manu-
facture of a controlled sub-
stance/cocaine; and the same
charges in connection with
methamphetamine.
OSP troopers from the
Central Point Area Command
office were involved in the
initial stop. Follow-up inves-
tigation is being conducted by
OSP Drug Enforcement Sec-
tion detectives.
