Page 4 Illinois Valley News, Cave Junction, OR Wednesday, March 5, 2008 Troopers rescue missing girl; warn of text contacts A 16-year-old girl re- ported missing from near Sacramento was found by two Oregon State Police troopers near Grants Pass, and a man with her was to be charged by California au- thorities on a charge of kid- nap with intent to commit rape, reported OSP. The girl, said to have diminished mental capacity, was found on Interstate 5 in a car driven by David A. Faboo, 37, a resident of Hillsboro, Ore., said OSP. Troopers had received information last week from Yuba County Sheriff’s Office and Wheatland Police Dept. about the girl. OSP said that the girl used text messaging to contact a friend, and that the phone company helped locate her by “cell phone pings.” OSP said it’s believed that the girl had corresponded with the suspect using text messaging. They urged that parents and guardians use special care to ensure that young persons do not become ensnared in unwanted rela- tionships because of such contacts.
