Besides carpet for a hallway, a room, a house, or a castle, the business -- which has relocated to 327 Redwood Hwy. in Down- town Cave Junction behind Bi-Rite Auto Parts in the Quonset building adjacent to Stevereno’s Family Restau- rant -- also offers an equally wide range of flooring mate- rial in vinyl, tile or lami- nates. “And if we don’t have it, or even if it’s not in our regular lines, we can order what the customer wants with a bit of information from them,” notes Al Hurt, who is amid “semiretiring” from the business. He’s turning it over to his son, Bob, who began training as a teen-ager with “Dad.” The younger Hurt thus is well-versed in all aspects of the business. Hometowne Interiors is open Mondays through Fri- days 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The store is open Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The telephone number is 592-2413. “Free and friendly” esti- mates are available, whether for carpet or other types of flooring material. “The community needs to know that we have com- petitive prices,” said the elder Hurt. “There’s no need to leave the valley; we’re here to serve. “Contractors are wel- come; some have already learned that they don’t have to travel to Medford.” Installation also is available, or customers can hire someone else, or even do it themselves. “Quality is our number- one priority,” said Al and Bob. “That and dependabil- ity to get the job done, plus honesty, are paramount with us. It’s what we do.” Al said that Hometowne Interiors relocated from its previous site at Caves Mall because the building has been sold, and it was time to move to a new location. He’s buying the former Ivy Theater, and what was go- ing to be a topless bar, from Larry Goynes, he said. Bi- Rite will stay where it is and rent from him, said Al. Hometowne Interiors offers top-of-line carpet from numerous companies. Among them are Lewiston, Mohawk, Shaw Industries, Coronet-Beaulieu, and South Wind. Samples and advice are available. Vinyl suppliers include Mannington and Armstrong. Flooring tile vendors in- clude Armstrong, Metro, Tarkett, Mannington, and Konecto. Many others are available. Laminate flooring com- panies include Quick Step and Konecto. Then there are the many suppliers for hard- wood floors. (Sinkey) Manteufel, 59, who died Wednesday, July 11, 2007, will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 21 at Laurel Cemetery Chapel in Cave Junction, with interment fol- lowing. Illi- Seventh-day Adventist Church, Cave Junction By Patty Hyland Pastor Jack Harris, former president of the Oregon Con- ference of Seventh-day Ad- ventists, gave an inspiring ap- peal for the congregation at 265 Old Stage Road South to prepare to meet their Lord. His sermon, “Surprise Party,” gripped the hearts of everyone attending in the filled-to-capacity church sanc- tuary. The Power Point pictures of the Savior with out-stretched hands, waiting for His children to accept His gift of salvation and prepare to meet Him in the Heavens, were awe-inspiring. I Thessalonians 5 was one passage he used for his chal- lenge to help us prepare for Christ’s Second Coming. Following the spiritual feast, the congregation enjoyed a physical feast in the fellow- ship hall with Harley and Jeannette Stevenson, and Dar- rell and Carol Bowlby as hosts and hostesses. Mrs. Manteufel was born on Jan. 30, 1948 in Glendale, Calif. to P.E. & LaVerne Fran- ces (Schmoll) Sinkey. In 1962, when she was 14, the family moved from California to Kerby. She graduated in 1966 from Illinois Valley High School. She continued her educa- tion, earning a bachelor of arts degree in physical education and health in 1970 from South- ern Oregon University in Ash- land. She received her MBA from the same school in 1978. She enlisted in the U.S. Army and served two years. On Dec. 25, 1977 in East Peo- ria, Ill., she married Charles W. Manteufel, who survives. Mrs. Manteufel worked from 1978 to ‘84 for the Ore- gon Employment Dept. She then worked as an Adult & Family Services case manager at the state’s Cave Junction office from 1984 to 2000. In 2001 she received a teaching certificate for various schools in Josephine County from kin- dergarten through 12th grade. She was a member and president of the former Illinois Valley Kiwanis Club. She also was an American Legion mem- ber, and the Cave Junction sec- tion of the Josephine County Christmas Basket Program. Mrs. Manteufel enjoyed collecting cookbooks. She also liked gardening, traveling, and garage sale selling and shop- ping. And she enjoyed fishing for salmon, halibut and bottom fish and giving her catches to charities. Besides her husband, p.m. These informal Bible study meetings have been a blessing to many. Each evening, lovely Bi- bles, books, and sermon hand- outs are given to everyone at- tending. These are free meet- ings, and no offering is taken. Co-leaders Carol Atwood and Kathy Morris have in- formed us that Vacation Bible School will be very special this year. The theme, “Following Jesus,” will be carried out in the opening exercises and in each classroom. SonLife games will be played, and fan- tastic crafts will be made by each age group.
