Charges can be amended or dismissed.) * * * Tuesday, Aug. 22 *A man at Three Rivers Community Hospital in Grants Pass reported that he was struck on his head with a tool at a Cave Junction job site. Wednesday, Aug. 23 *William W. Bailey, 51, was cited on a charge of sec- ond-degree criminal trespass on N. Sawyer Avenue. *Theft of guns sometime during the past nine months was reported in the 4000 block of Caves Hwy. *There was concern be- cause a registered sex of- fender no longer on probation was living on forest service land in Takilma near children. *Timothy Roy Wilcox, 24, was cited on a charge of driving while suspended (DWS) in Cave Junction after being stopped for riding a motorcycle without wearing a helmet. The bike was im- pounded. *In CJ, Alan Carl Penna, 35, was arrested under a Kan- sas warrant charging failure to appear (FTA) on a charge of possession of marijuana. His vehicle was impounded. *Someone claimed that they received a phone call from a man out Caves Hwy., who said he had slashed his wrists and was driving him- self for medical care. He was- n’t located. *Gunfire from “an auto- matic weapon” was reported on Lone Mountain Road at 1:26 p.m. *No crime was detected after a reported disturbance in Kerby at 8:25 p.m. *A couple in Kerby had a disturbance at 8:41 p.m. *It appeared that some- one “jimmied” a door to a home in the 7000 block of Takilma Road; ransacked a desk and took gun records and invoices, plus $2,000 cash, but left the $1 bills. Thursday, Aug. 24 *During the small hours after midnight, Community Oriented Policing (COP) was conducted at Jubilee Park, and Illinois River “Forks” State Park. *Two men outside a Cave Junction store at 12:46 a.m. were contacted. *On N. Sawyer Avenue, William Warren Bailey, 51 was cited on a charge of sec- ond-degree criminal trespass. *Deputies were to watch for a registered sex offender in Takilma after a concern was expressed that he was living on forest service land near some children. *There was a call at 11:02 p.m. from a woman in Cave Junction saying that she was raped in a white van by a man who held a gun to her head. *In the 7000 block of Illinois River Road a man gave forest service personnel a problem when told he couldn’t have a fire. *There was a complaint from Selma that a woman’s brother had been molesting her children while visiting from another state. *An man so intoxicated that he couldn’t walk straight caused a problem in Kerby, and was walking, sort of, in and out of traffic. *“Verbal” was used by a deputy to describe a reported disturbance in the 24000 block of Redwood Hwy. Friday, Aug. 25 *No one was located after a 2:46 a.m. call from Downtown CJ that three men and a woman were fighting, and that one had a gun. *At 3:10 a.m. a man in Downtown CJ was upset be- cause, he said, some people with guns know that he is a snitch. He was given a ride. *Extensive littering out Upper Deer Creek Road was to be cleaned up after a com- plaint. It was hoped that the dumpers could be identified by some items they left. *Trespassing by a woman at Shop Smart Food Warehouse was reported at 11:19 a.m. The woman was wanted for felony trespass, as she has been warned many times. *Patricia Rae Doney, 54, was cited on Illinois River Road on a charge of “op with req lighting.” *On Illinois River Road, Laith Shropshire, 20, was cited on charges of improper fenders and no insurance, and Jennifer Peterson, 20, was cited on a charge of not wear- ing a seat belt. The car was impounded. *It was unclear who was cited on Illinois River Road on a charge of not having a child passenger in a seat belt. *Steven Gilman, 35, was cited on Illinois River Road on a charge of failure to maintain lane (FaMaLa). *Illinois Valley resident Neilia Beth Pierson, 53, was served several Grants Pass warrants charging FTA on charges of third-degree rob- bery, menacing, third-degree theft, and second-degree criminal trespass. *On popular Illinois River Road, Desiree Lynn Franks, 26, was cited on charges of driving uninsured, and endangering a child pas- senger. The vehicle was im- pounded. *Citations listing FaMaLa were issued Daniel Colman, 49; and Lisa Sue Murphy, 28. *“Suspicious noises” like a child crying and screaming very hard” were reported on Arrowhead Drive at 4:41 p.m. *Loud music and fire- works were reported in the 10000 block of Caves Hwy. at 6:42 p.m. No one was go- ing to respond unless a spe- cific address could be pro- vided. *A door was kicked down at a residence on W. Lister Street by a sometimes resident, who told the occu- pant to go ahead and throw his stuff down the stairs. *Open beer bottles were seen inside a vehicle that crashed in the 6000 block of Caves Hwy. around 6:43 p.m. No one from the car was found. *After a man looked toward another man, the latter became offended and was beating on the complainant in Downtown CJ at 9:07 p.m. He said he’d kill the suspect or at least put him in a hospi- tal. Saturday, Aug. 26 *Someone reported a car in a ditch in the 8000 block of Caves Hwy. at 1:05 a.m. *Someone reported a truck in a ditch in the 1500 block of Rockydale Road at 1:06 a.m. *Some “200 kids” were said to be at a gathering in the 1200 block of Illinois River Road with alcohol involved. *COP occurred at the green bridge on Eight Dollar road at 3:13 a.m. *Michael Gutierrez, 45, was cited on a charge of FaMaLa on Illinois River Road. Also Ashley Vint, 27; Shan Smedley, 33; Darin Jantzer, 31; Raymond Henry Holt III, 44; and Danielle Layton, 22. *On that preceding road, Douglas Trowbridge, 34, was cited on charges of FaMaLa and no operator’s license. His vehicle was impounded. *Also on that road above, Alicia Ann Shelton, 24, was arrested on a DWS charge; and cited and released on charges of FaMaLa and driv- ing without insurance. Trevor White, 25, was arrested and jailed under warrants charging FTA on charges of menacing, fourth-degree assault, and contempt of court. *Creeps struck CJ 76, damaging various equipment, but not taking anything. *Eviction options were provided a Selma woman for someone in a motorhome re- fusing to leave. *Harassment was com- plained about in the 38000 block of Redwood Hwy. *Weird thieves stole some $250 worth of bingo cards and related items from Illinois Valley Grange Hall. *FaMaLa was the charge against Bryon Lee Malcolm, 25, on Illinois River Road. Also Charles Daniel Cavanagh III, 21. *Wayne Overlin, 36, was cited on a charge of violation of the basic rule (VBR), driv- ing too fast for conditions on Redwood Hwy. in Selma. *An obscenity-screaming person keeps phoning her, a woman on S. Junction Ave- nue said. *People were fighting in the 24000 block of Redwood Hwy. at 9:26 p.m. *One gunshot was re- ported near I.V. High School at 10:07 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 27 *After a complaint of shooters in the 1800 block of Crooks Creek Road, there was no evidence of a crime or unsafe shooting. The com- plainant said that the suspect has shot at frogs and motor- cyclists. *A man in Kerby wanted a deputy to stand by while he returned a child. He was pro- vided options “for making the exchange less problematic.” *Loud music in the 9300 block of Takilma Road was complained about at 9:39 a.m. *It was reported that a man and woman walking on Laurel Road were involving in domestic violence with the man choking her. *Because a man in the rear of a car near milepost 32 of Redwood Hwy. was “mooning” and partially ex- posing himself, a mother was upset because of her two young daughters. *A suspicious person and people smoking marijuana were complained about in Kerby. *Two people were con- tacted at McCaleb Ranch out Illinois River Road about leaving alcohol around chil- dren while they weren’t around. *A hit-and-run vehicle accident was reported in O’Brien. *People riding quads through property at Siskiyou Community Health Center again were the subject of a complaint by a nearby resi- dent. *A glass-breakage alarm sounded at Joe’s Market at 8:31 p.m. Then the responsi- ble party was present, and there were no more log notes. Wednesday, Aug. 30 *COP occurred in the small hours after midnight at Jubilee Park, Holland Store, O’Brien Country Store, Rough & Ready Lumber Co. and in the Redwood Hwy./ Eight Dollar Road area. *Helen R. Blankenship, 28, was cited on a charge of DWS at 8:04 a.m. at Laurel Road and Walters Road. Her vehicle was impounded. *Following an alarm at a home in the 5000 block of Lakeshore Drive, it was be- lieved caused by six Chihua- huas. *Someone reported a loose horse near 1800 Deer Creek Road at 12:06 p.m. *When a deputy went to Selma to serve a Clackamas County warrant on a man, he found that the person had moved. *A CJ man discovered that his stolen car had been impounded. *Following a 5:13 p.m. alarm at First American Title in CJ, it was found to be not an intruder. *Some sort of disorderly conduct near Siskiyou Com- munity Health Center was reported at 6:56 p.m. *Extra patrol was re- quested on Lakeshore Drive because of speeders. Thursday, Aug. 31 *Screaming squatters with guns at a former drug lab were among aspects of a com- plaint from the 1700 block of Dick George Road. Friday, Sept. 1 *A site on N. Sawyer Avenue was checked as a transient camp. *From E. River Street a woman noted that the wheels and tires were removed from her vehicle. The estimated value was $1,500. *There was a likelihood that while a woman and her husband were away from the 25000 block of Redwood Hwy., someone drove their rental car and damaged it. *Someone took a wallet from an unlocked car in O’Brien, and it contacted items including $230 cash, according to a complainant. *A “repo man” did his thing on Draper Valley Road. *Harassment was re- ported in the 33000 block of Redwood Hwy. by a woman who did not want to pursue charges or speak to a deputy, although she said she suffered a scratched face. *Theft of a box of docu- ments from Jonathan Court was logged. *Paul J. Manzone, 41, was cited on Illinois River Road on charges of FaMaLa and no driver’s license. FaMaLa citations also were issued Michael V. Stewart, 32; and Carl Furfuson, 30. *Marty D. Thornton, 26, and Jessie James Smith, 23, were cited on Illinois River Road on charges of failure to wear seat belts, and Smith also was cited on a charge of FaMaLa. *Following a disturbance report involving a man with a machete and a gun threatening two girls, Otis Jones, 52, was arrested and jailed on the fol- lowing charges: attempted second-degree assault, harass- ment, menacing, second- degree theft, unlawful entry to a motor vehicle, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest. *Approximately $2,000 damage was reported to a car after the driver of Mustang convertible couldn’t avoid striking a deer at 8999 Deer Creek (appropriate) Road. *Logged for information at 4:56 p.m. at the request of a complainant on Hogue Drive, she reported that an adult threw a table at her child and that the glass broke, causing a small cut on one leg of the child. *Another Hogue Drive complaint at 5:06 p.m. came from a landlord who said that tenants were “throwing crap and refusing to pay rent.” She was advised of civil options. *At 5:15 p.m. someone drove a green Chevy pickup truck through Oregon Caves Chevron so fast that an atten- dant was unable to obtain a license plate. *Adrian Diego Contreras, 21, was cited on Illinois River Road on a charge of FaMaLa. Marty Leslie Thornton Jr., 26, was cited on charges of failure to wear a seat belt, and posses- sion of less than an ounce of a controlled substance. *Theft of a $200 cell phone from a man in the area (Continued on page 14) MANSFIELD R.
