Charges can be amended or dismissed.) * * * Tuesday, Dec. 6 *On Dick George Road, a woman reported theft of a Marlin lever-action 30-30 rifle valued at $300. *Fax transmission error from a Deer Creek Road residence caused an acci- dental 911 call at 2 p.m. during which only beeping could be heard. *Assistance was ren- dered for a temporarily stalled vehicle at Sis’s Gap at quarter to 3 p.m. *Entering through the kitchen window during day- light hours, thieves took jewelry boxes from a resi- dence on W. Watkins Street, a man said. *From the 200 block of Caves Avenue at 9 p.m., a man phoned to complain that his neighbor had threat- ened to shoot him. The caller also said that the man harasses him by pounding on his front door and throw- ing buckets in his yard. A deputy determined the inci- dent to be “verbal only,” and both men were told to stay in their respective homes. Wednesday, Dec. 7 *Extra patrol occurred throughout the valley during the wee morning hours. *Two men carrying a fuel can were seen near Lau- rel Pines/Illinois Valley Golf Course at 2:15 a.m., and the caller thought it odd. No one could be located when a deputy checked. *A deputy used a for- ward-looking infrared (FLIR) device in the 36000 block of Redwood Hwy. and then returned it, noting that it might need repair. *In the 36000 block of Redwood Hwy. a woman was complaining that a man with whom she’d had earlier difficulty had returned and broke into her home. *On McMullen Creek Road, a man said that a woman against whom he had a restraining order had contacted him via email. *Notified by the post office that several deliveries had been made to her neighbor’s address with her husband’s name on them, a woman on Fir Drive sus- pected identity theft. *On Page Mountain, a man was cited because his vehicle lacked a Sno-Park permit. *In the 7000 block of Takilma Road a property owner said that possible poachers in a pickup truck had stopped on the road and spotlighted his property. Thursday, Dec. 8 *While she hid in a closet in the 11000 block of Takilma Road, one or two men entered her home at 5:30 a.m. a woman reported. They left upon discovering her, and her son and boy- friend went to look for them. *In the 12000 block of Takilma Road a residence had been ransacked, a care- taker reported at 9 a.m. *In a property line dis- pute on S. Old Stage Road, a woman said that a neighbor had a contractor Things alter for the worse spontaneously, if they be not altered for the better designedly. - Francis Bacon - digging atop her septic tank, and that she was concerned about a possible altercation between the neighbor and her husband. *A jewelry box, two coin cans and a fanny pack with checks in it were taken from a residence on S. Junc- tion Avenue last week, a woman reported. Friday, Dec. 9 *Edwin Obed Scott, 49, was cited to appear on a charge of failure to appear (FTA) on an original charge of contempt of court. *His nephew stole 11 energy drinks valued at $2.15 apiece, said a valley market owner. Even though the drinks were returned, the boy’s dad said to go ahead and report the crime. *No entry was gained to a home on White Oak Drive after a rock was thrown through a bedroom window. A report of criminal mis- chief was filed. *Some time during the past two weeks someone Super-Glued the door and gate locks at a residence in the 17000 block of Red- wood Hwy., causing a re- ported $100 damage. *On S. Old Stage Road, a woman heard two men talking outside her window at 10:16 p.m. *Just after 11 p.m. a woman in the 36000 block of Redwood Hwy. said that a man was standing at her gate. She and her dogs ap- proached the man, who asked if she had a blanket he could buy. She said “No,” and told him to leave. Saturday, Dec. 10 *Three young men in a car underwent field interro- gations at 2:06 a.m. at Ore- gon Caves Chevron. *Michael James Alger, 55, was cited to appear on a charge of criminal mischief after a neighbor complained that he had broken down her door and threatened assault. *Paul Daniel Pittman Jr., 38, was lodged in Jose- phine County Jail, after be- ing charged with five counts of domestic menacing after a gun was fired at family members trying to leave their Caves Hwy. property. *Having found her mail- box open the night before, a woman on N. Old Stage Road said that she found mail all over the neighbor’s yard this morning. *Miguel Jose Ortega, 21, was cited on a charge of speeding on S. Redwood Hwy. at W. Watkins Street at 10:42 a.m. *During a confrontation with his 15-year-old daugh- ter’s boyfriend about having provided the girl alcohol, the 18-year-old assaulted him, said a man on Caves Hwy. *In the 4000 block of Caves Hwy. a woman re- ported that her husband was trying to break into their home, and later that he had dragged their daughter around by the hair. *Michael James Alger, 55, was arrested on a charge of menacing after returning to a residence where he’d been cited earlier in the day. This time, it was said he might have had a loaded gun in his back pocket. He was lodged in county jail. *On Westside Road, a resident said that he heard an airplane directly over- head in the fog, and shortly thereafter, a loud thud. No crashed planes were located, and all was OK at Illinois Valley Airport, checked by I.V. Fire District. *Phoning from Selma Select Market, a man said that he had been cut off by another driver, after which he was flipped off by the passenger, who then tried to point a gun at him. Two men contacted said that they had been tailgated, but denied having shown a weapon. *In O’Brien, a woman reported that her husband had threatened to end her life. She stated that he had a “military background, has killed be- fore, and it won’t bother him to kill again.” Later she phoned to say that the situa- tion was resolved. Sunday, Dec. 11 *Following a domestic disturbance on the Fir Drive roadway, a woman was ad- vised of her options and given Women’s Crisis Cen- ter information. *Richard Raymond Dice, 59, was arrested on a charge of violating a re- straining order and lodged in Josephine County Jail. *An intoxicated woman in a white Volvo was said to have crashed into a ditch near the intersection of Althouse and Kendall roads at 6 p.m. She then drove away, although a passerby tried to convince her not to. *In the 28000 block of Redwood Hwy., a woman sought deputy contact after seeing a man jump her fence. Monday, Dec. 12 *Community Oriented Policing (COP) patrols were conducted here and there shortly after midnight. *A DMV employee in Cave Junction reported hav- ing been threatened by a woman driving a white pickup truck. *Super Glue and tooth- picks were jammed into door locks at Illinois Valley High School, the office manager reported. And many doors and windows were “graffiti-ized.” *“Stop” signs and poles were pulled up on Westside Road at Redwood Hwy., and county public works was notified. *Concerned for the wel- fare of children attending school nearby, a woman reported that a “possibly transient” man had fully exposed himself while uri- nating on Caves Avenue. He and six other people were said to be loitering there. *On Pinewood Way, a mother complained that a semitruck left running on the street was making it tough to get her children to sleep. Tuesday, Dec. 13 *Dayna Peter Feltzin, 27, was cited on a charge of driving with suspended li- cense (DWS) following a traffic stop on Redwood Hwy. at Caves Hwy. at 9 a.m. Her vehicle was towed. *Robert Lloyd Speck, 42, was cited on a charge of DWS, and his vehicle towed from Redwood Hwy. at Ken Rose Lane at 9:13 a.m. *Christopher R. Luna, 39, was cited on a charge of DWS and his vehicle towed from the 8000 block of Takilma Road at 10 a.m. *While the home owner was sleeping, someone en- tered her locked residence on Rockydale Road, ran- sacked the house and took her wallet. The front door was left open, and the shop also was rifled, she reported. *Eric Griffy, 34, was cited on a charge of DWS and his vehicle towed. He was also cited on charges of driving uninsured and al- tered plates. *Lisa Rae Hazzard, 42, was arrested on a charge of probation violation and lodged in county jail. Wednesday, Dec. 14 *Because her vehicle high-centered in the snow near Tannen Lake, a woman and her son phoned for help and had to wait some time before a tow truck arrived. *On S. Kerby Avenue a woman said that her 80- year-old house guest was insisting she owed her money and refused to leave. *On E. River Street, thieves broke into a locked car, taking 10 CDs and $10 in change from the ashtray. *In the 600 block of E. River Street, someone broke a window with a .BB gun, causing $300 damage. *Because he darted back and forth across Red- wood Hwy. in Downtown Cave Junction at least 10 times, there was concern about a “very dirty” man. He was told to use the cross- walks when safe. *Anthony J Gallegos, 18, was cited on charges of DWS and no insurance.
