Page 9 Illinois Valley News, Cave Junction, OR Wednesday, August 3, 2005 BLUEGRASS BONANZA - Approximately 450 per- sons showed up for the second annual Siskiyou Bluegrass Festival at Lake Selmac Saturday, July 30. There were 11 separate performances by a wide range of Bluegrass musicians. Aficionados had their pick of various Bluegrass styles. Three major ven- dors, including the Selma Community Center, Tay- lor’s Sausage Country Store, and Wild River Brewing & Pizza Co., provided snacks, food and beverages. The annual Wild Blackberry Festival is planned in and around Downtown Cave Junction for Friday through Sunday, Aug. 12-14. Booth applications are available from the Blackberry Committee at Darn Near Everything, 136 S. Redwood Hwy. in CJ, or telephone 592-5255 or 592-2358. In addition, the ‘I.V. News’ will have a special Blackberry Fest spread in next week’s issue. Phone 592-2541 for details. The festival, sponsored by Illinois Valley Chamber of Commerce as a fundraiser for its programs, was di- rected by Pam Cooper. OSP said that a car driven by Peter Bilodeau, 52, of Brookings, was southbound shortly after 4 p.m. when witnesses said he veered across the center line and struck a northbound car driven by Brookings resi- dent Darren Evanow, 20. Illinois Valley Fire Dis- trict was called to assist Ru- ral/Metro Fire Dept. and American Medical Re- sponse. With the temperature around 100 degrees and dealing with a badly dam- aged car, firefighters from both organizations were hard-pressed to extricate Bilodeau. They succeeded after removing the doors and roof of his vehicle. Also injured were Bilo- deau’s passengers. They were identified as Erica Talley, 20; and Rachel Kett- man, 16, both of Brookings. The latter was lying on the back seat, and she, Talley and Bilodeau suffered major injuries.
