All persons listed are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Charges can be amended or dismissed.) * * * Saturday, July 9 *Several traffic signs were pulled down and left in the middle of Old Stage Road between Caves Hwy. and River Street, it was reported to the county department of public works. *Mischievous dolts (or dolt) gained entry to Caves Mini Mall and kicked in the doors to every business. Some offices were ransacked, and cash was taken from sev- eral. *On Fir Drive, a 13-year- old runaway was fighting with her sister and mother. The girl jumped the fence and fled upon a deputy’s arrival. *Three 911 hang-up calls were received from a public phone in Downtown Cave Junction around 6:30 p.m. No problem was found. *Someone attempted to enter a residence on Ollis Road, but they were foiled by a deadbolt, a woman re- ported. Sunday, July 10 *This morning the clever sign-puller chose to concen- trate his efforts on Laurel Road between Caves Hwy. and River Street, felling some “Stop” signs. *A van was reportedly on fire and smoking on S. Junction Ave. at 8 a.m. *“Distant in-law rela- tives” just barged into a man’s home on Rockydale Road and became hostile, he said when he phoned from his neighbor’s place at quarter after 4 p.m. *A witness saw three middle school-aged children leave Cave Junction Swim- ming Pool, where a door had been smashed. *Sporting long hair and camouflage clothing, a dirt- bike rider eluded deputies into woods near the power line road between Holton Creek Road and Kerby Mainline Road. Monday, July 11 *Teen-agers who ran off toward cabins behind the for- mer Blue Marlin Inn were said to have been throwing potatoes at cars on Redwood Hwy. at 12:30 p.m. No dam- age was reported, and a dep- uty was unable to locate the pranksters. *Although nothing was removed, a portable class- room on the Illinois Valley High School campus was entered and ransacked, ac- cording to a custodian. *Two vehicles on Addi- son Lane were unlawfully entered and ransacked, result- ing in the loss of a wallet and checkbook, and damage to one car door. *At the Old Deer Creek Park, an unoccupied Ford pick-up truck with plates from another vehicle was parked near evidence of a campsite. Notice was left for the owner to pack up and leave immediately. *Grouchy because the neighbor’s dogs bark at him when he and they are outside, an Addison Lane man was said to be yelling at the dog owners at 7 p.m. *In the 36000 block of Redwood Hwy. a fanny pack with narcotic medications was taken from an unlocked vehicle, someone com- plained. *Because he suspected that the driver of a vehicle which habitually speeds up and down S. Junction Ave. was dealing drugs at Jubilee Park, a caller threatened to “go after” the driver with a baseball bat. He was repeat- edly advised not to do so at 6:30 p.m. *Called to an address in the 9000 block of Takilma Road to oust some trespass- ers, deputies arrested Donna Elene Moseley, 40, on a war- rant charging a conditional release violation. She also was charged with possession of a controlled substance (PCS), methamphetamine. The original trespassing call was deemed unfounded. *After he reported that his wife had been missing for nearly 48 hours, David Ro- land Graves, 48, was himself arrested on a charge of PCS and lodged in county jail. *In a Cave Junction bar at 9:40 p.m., a man reportedly picked up a pool table and then dropped it, causing $370 damage. When told to leave, the man became angry and threw his beer all over the place. Tuesday, July 12 *What began as a wrong number became a week-long ordeal as the callers kept phoning back, harassing and making threats, a man re- ported. He was advised about telephone harassment. *A woman on Schumacher Street was con- cerned when she saw a man with a baseball bat chasing a teen-ager down the street at 4:39 p.m. *Unhappy with food purchased at a Cave Junction store, a man had his money returned but then wanted more food -- for free. He left prior to a deputy’s arrival. *Some $5,000 worth of decking material was taken from a residence on Illinois River Road. *A youngster on Dick George Road dialed 911 in error, her grandmother said at 9:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 13 *A woman on Dick George Road wanted help with a physically and verbally aggressive houseguest who had overstayed her welcome and would not leave. All par- ties were advised of their op- tions. *At Jubilee Park a bearded, “half-naked black man” was said to have uri- nated in front of a group of children attending a Boys & Girls Club function. *No reason was found for an alarm at the Selma Post Office at approximately 5 p.m. *Parked on McMullen Creek Road, a locked car was broken into, the stereo pulled out, a speaker removed, items taken from the glove box and a set of tires and rims belong- ing to the vehicle were taken as well, the owner said. *Washing herself in a bucket near the entrance to Illinois River “Forks” State Park, a woman with a car with one door missing be- came belligerent when con- fronted repeatedly by other park guests who objected to her exposing herself in front of children. *Robert Lloyd Speck, 42, was cited on warrants charging failure to appear (FTA) on charges including interfering with a police offi- cer, harassment and disor- derly conduct after he com- plained that his girlfriend would not leave his residence on Ollis Road. *Someone in a blue car was racing up and down Red- wood Hwy. between mile- posts 19 and 20, two callers said at 9:05 p.m. *A Takilma resident noted a person who was rac- ing an ATV up and down Waldo Road who seemed suspicious. *Someone again was messing with Laurel Road street signs, a caller said at 11 p.m. Thursday, July 14 *Several people were involved in a physical alterca- tion on Schumacher Street at 8:32 a.m. Afterward, Yvette Tene Baty, 30, was arrested on a charge of unauthorized use of a vehicle (UUV). *A fellow reported that he had been assaulted at a mining claim off Holland Loop the day before. *The driver of a silver- or gray-colored Ford “dually” was said to be all over the place on Lakeshore Drive near 11 a.m. *At the I.V. Substation it was reported that a man on Hummingbird Road threat- ened to beat the mail carrier with a baseball bat if his mail wasn’t delivered properly. *An unwelcome house- guest on Dick George Road, who was leaving, claimed to own a goat, worth $750, that the complainant also claimed. *“Stop” signs were pulled down on Old Stage Road. *A Kerby woman was issued a parking citation on W. Lister Street at N. Kerby Ave. at 2:22 p.m. *Valued at $350, a gen- erator was reportedly taken from the 300 block of W. Sixth Street in Kerby at 2:44 p.m. *A guy on Deer Creek Road said that another man threatened to kill him and his wife. *Youngsters riding a motorcycle without helmets on Tracy Lane concerned an anonymous caller at 5:30 p.m. *An apparently intoxi- cated man fell off his bike on Deer Creek Road. He de- clined medical attention. *An unwelcome person came onto a property in the 23000 block of Redwood Hwy. and threatened some- one with a knife, a woman said. *In the 400 block of S. Redwood Hwy. a “repo man” did his thing at 10:30 p.m. Friday, July 15 *Though a man in Kerby believed that someone stole his albino kitten, the cat was found in the residence. *A home in the 2000 block of Cave Hwy. was ran- sacked upstairs and down, a woman said. *Michael James Hood, 19, was cited and released on charges of shoplifting at Shop Smart Food Warehouse. *Liberty Warfield, 21, was cited on charges of hav- ing no operator’s license and no insurance when contacted in the 27000 block of Red- wood Hwy. at 8 p.m. *Said to be bleeding from the face near the Brown Barn Laundromat at 8:30 p.m., a bearded man in a blood-soaked shirt and blue jeans walked away and was not found. Thursday, June 14 *A couple arguing on Norman Road were advised to separate before things esca- lated. *An anonymous com- plainant was upset by loud music coming from a Cave Junction business at 11:08 p.m. *Seven hairbrushes and $5 in change were taken from a CJ hair salon, and the front window was damaged with a rock, resulting in $25 dam- age. *A continuing problem with a trespassing neighbor on Deer Creek Road was re- ported. *Down an embankment and out of reach, a stolen ve- hicle was discovered on Lone Mountain Road at 3:30 p.m. *Four of five men swim- ming nude near “first bridge” and “exposing themselves” concerned a caller who called to say so at 4:30 p.m. Swim- mers, nude or otherwise, were not located. *In the 29000 block of Redwood Hwy., the father of a girl whose hair was said to be pulled by a neighbor boy stormed into that family’s home and “began yelling, using obscenities.” Further, he jerked the boy’s arm in a “violent and mean” manner, the boy’s father related, all of which made the boy’s mother cry. No charges were filed, but all were contacted and advised later the next day. *After drinking all day at their place on Lone Mountain Road, a man’s girlfriend be- gan beating on his car, he said. The caller was uncoop- erative with the call-taker and hung up. Friday July 15 *Several men in a white pickup truck ran a car off the road and were driving around on Ken Rose Lane, yelling and making threats, two call- ers reported at 2:30 a.m. *A call for fire district assistance came from a man on Sky Crest Drive, (which isn’t in Illinois Valley, but bear with us). He said there was a deer in his pool, thrash- ing around and tearing the liner. He requested assistance with either the deer or the pool, to prevent 10,000 gal- lons of water from flowing into his house. Wouldn’t ya know it? The deer “self- extricated,” so everyone re- turned. *Some sort of landlord/ tenant dispute was occurring on Krauss Lane at 11:30 a.m. *Three men with Califor- nia IDs, who had been living near the Illinois River on Burch Drive for a month, were given two days to clean the area entirely or be cited. *So angry he pulled the phone from the wall, a man on E. River Street also called his grandmother names and demanded money of her, she said. Charges of domestic harassment were referred to the district attorney. *Screaming and yelling, a brother and sister were fighting in the 2000 block of Laurel Road a neighbor said at approximately 4:30 p.m. *Believed to be highly intoxicated, two persons in a green pickup truck were headed to Selma on Illinois River Road, a caller said at quarter to 6 p.m. *While parked at the river on Illinois River Road, a woman said someone bumped her car, damaging the bumper. *Although she hadn’t a mark on her, a woman in her early 20s, who claimed to be pregnant, told the complain- ant at a CJ business a sad tale of how her boyfriend had assaulted her and took her keys to a truck, which he then wrecked. Then she disap- peared into some bushes to pee and never came back. Monday, July 18 *On Redwood Hwy. near Deer Creek Road, a driver caller saw one vehicle attempting to right a white Toyota pickup truck, which had tipped into a ditch when the operator pulled too far over on the shoulder. When she stopped to assist at 12:20 p.m. she was told repeatedly “You had better not be calling the police...” OSP was ad- vised that the front and rear plates on one of the vehicles did not match. *People who had been following and harassing a woman in CJ were warned about their behavior. *Tall and skinny with dark hair, the female driver of a car with no driver’-side door was attempting to re- move pictures from the side of a building with a crow bar, said a woman at Shop Smart at 2:10 p.m. *Around 2:30 p.m. a red Dodge pickup truck with Texas plates backed into her vehicle at a CJ store, a caller complained. The bumpers of the vehicles got stuck to- gether and damaged, which the Texans got out and in- spected before driving away. A report for failure to leave name at the scene of an acci- dent was filed. *Unknown persons drove across a yard and into a metal garage door on W.
