Page 4 Illinois Valley News, Cave Junction, OR Wednesday, June 29, 2005 GP resident arrested for assault of two people After two people re- ported that they were as- saulted, Grants Pass resident Lawrence Allen Brown, 39, was arrested on several charges Saturday, June 25, said Grants Pass Dept. of Public Safety (GPDPS). Brown was charged with two counts of fourth- degree assault, and one count each of first-degree burglary, third-degree rob- bery, driving under the in- fluence of an intoxicant, and unlawful entry to a motor vehicle, said GPDPS. The agency reported that at approximately 5 p.m. Brown went to the residence of his sister, Patsy Lou Ogden, 35 on Foundry Street. He became upset when she refused to go downtown to buy him something. He struck her face; then grabbed her purse. She was able to keep it, and Brown punched her two more times in the head and ribs, said GPDPS. A neighbor, Anthony Brenton, 46, came to assist, and was assaulted by Brown, said GPDPS. Brown then pursued him into a ga- rage, continuing the assault. Josephine County Sher- iff’s Office helped locate and detain the suspect with GPDPS officers. The whole purpose is to keep traffic flowing.” The next two bridges to be renovated are those crossing the Big West Fork and the East Fork of Illinois River. Construction on them will begin in June 2006 and continue through May 2007. Funding for the bridge projects is provided by the Oregon Transportation In- vestment Act (OTIA), which raised vehicle regis- tration fees in 2003. This funding boost, passed by the Oregon Legislature, is the first major source of funding for highways and bridges in 50 years, ODOT said.
