Page 13 Illinois Valley News, Cave Junction, OR Wednesday, April 27, 2005 Helping ‘babies and mommies’ Judy Baker goal at IVPC After many months of prayer, Judy Baker joined the volunteer staff of the Illinois Valley Pregnancy Center in January because she wanted to make a difference in the valley. “The Lord put it on my heart to help not only the ba- bies, but the mommies as well,” she said. She “wants to be a vessel for the Lord, to be used for His glory, and that lives will be saved.” She likes to interact with people and appreciates “the feeling I get from helping those who are hurting in our community. “If I can help even just one girl to see that she can choose life for her baby, I’ll feel like I’ve made a differ- ence,” she said. Baker said that the feels burdened by the hurt that peo- ple have experienced and have not dealt with -- past decisions that they may be regretting or feeling guilty about now. “I think this community has hundreds of people who are torn up and not seeking the help they need to heal and move forward,” she said. “I’m praying that when they do seek that help, we can be there for them.” Baker has been married for two years to “Lance … the best husband in the world.” She was born in Rogue Val- ley, and has lived in different parts of the world. and Joey, 13; are always in her heart and prayers. “I never want another person to feel the pain I have from losing your children,” she said. Charges can be amended or dismissed.) * * * Saturday, April 9 *Just after midnight, a woman in Selma said she heard gunshots and believed that her barn light was shot out. *On Thompson Creek Road, occupants of a vehicle with spotlights were shooting at houses, a man said. *“Lots of blood” accom- panied a broken window at Siskiyou Market on Caves Hwy., a caller reported, al- though it was unknown if entry was made or anything taken. *Two men were suspected of stealing four 12-packs of beer from a store in Selma, a woman said around 10:30 p.m. *William Richard Hilden- brand, 24, was cited to appear on charges of unauthorized entry into a motor vehicle (UEMV) and criminal trespass following a disturbance on Hummingbird Road. *Lisa A. Bersaglieri, 51, was taken into custody under a peace officer’s mental hold following a disturbance on Lakeshore Drive at 4 p.m. *An officer attempted to contact residents on Page Creek Road due to cattle graz- ing on U.S. Forest Service land. *An evicted tenant was removed after having broken into his former residence on Caves Hwy,. to retrieve be- longings. He was advised of his options. *Wearing a paint-covered sweatshirt, slippers and sun- glasses, a man was trying to kick in the doors at the Selma Post Office, a witness reported at 6 p.m. *Christopher Joseph Hall, 50, was cited to appear on charges of driving under the influence of an intoxicant (DUII), driving while sus- pended (DWS) and driving uninsured, after he was con- tacted in the 18000 of Red- wood Hwy at 6:25 p.m. *On Glendon Road, the mother of a runaway girl re- quested deputy assistance re- trieving her daughter from a home where no one would answer the door. *William Richard Hilden- brand, 24, was taken into cus- tody under a peace officer’s mental hold and transported to a hospital. Sunday, April 10 *Jason S. Wray, 30, was charged with violation of the basic rule/VBR (driving too fast for conditions), cited on a charge of expired tags, and warned regarding failure to carry proof of insurance in the 1000 block of Caves Hwy. at 8:32 a.m. *James Guy Bennett, 46, was arrested on charges of first-degree burglary and third- degree criminal mischief after he was found in an apartment from which he’d been evicted on Caves Hwy. *Following a 7 p.m. traffic stop on Watkins Street: Joseph Lorren Sears, 20, was arrested on two Klamath County war- rants charging failure to appear (FTA); Sherry Lee Kimbol, 41, was arrested on two Klamath County warrants charging FTA and probation violation. Both were also cited on possession of a controlled substance/less than an ounce of marijuana. Monday, April 11 *A woman said she be- lieved a man at Jubilee Park was buying alcohol and sup- plying it to minors. *An alarmed woman saw four teen-age boys carrying machetes and smoking on Old Stage Road. *Unused .44-caliber bul- lets were discovered in a urinal in the east bathroom at Jubilee Park, a man said. Tuesday, April 12 *Ronald Hiler, 55, was cited to appear on a charge of DUII, and warned for speeding and failure to signal a turn on Caves Hwy. at Old Stage Road. *Jose Alberto Cueva, 24, was arrested on charges of felony eluding, misdemeanor eluding, reckless driving, and DUII and lodged in county jail. *Kevin M. Guyer, 19, was cited on a charges of driving uninsured, no operator’s permit and speeding 77 mph in a 55 zone) in the 23000 block of Redwood Hwy. at 4 a.m. *Several items were re- ported stolen from a garage on N. Junction Avenue. *The letters “T-H-E” were taken from a sign board in front of Lorna Byrne Middle School, a custodian said at 9:31 a.m. *On Iron Way, a woman who believed her chainsaw to be stolen said she found saw- dust matching that which came from her saw on her neighbor’s property. She advised that she was “guarding over the dust right now, waiting for deputy contact.” *On Iron Way, a woman was concerned that her neighbor, who suspected she had stolen a chainsaw, was shooting a firearm unsafely toward her house. *Katie E. Stevens, 22, was cited on a charge of speeding (60 in a 45 zone), and warned for failure to drive with head- lights when required in the 27000 block of Redwood Hwy. at 8:20 p.m. Wednesday, April 13 *Five vinyl barricades; four, 12-inch orange cones; and five, filled sand bags, valued at $330, were reported taken from a construction zone in the 500 block of S. Redwood Hwy. *Apparently not much else happened today. Thursday, April 14 *At 9:12 a.m., a driver was warned about DWS, and he was to bring his renewed license to the valley substation. *A girl reported as a run- away person from Pine Cone Drive returned home. *On Takilma Road a handicapped woman filed a restraining order against a man who, she said, has been violent “Because of some hurtful choices in my past, we don’t have my children living with us,” she said. The “stay out” tape had been removed. *In Selma some children were finally picked up after a baby-sitter was concerned be- cause she couldn’t contact the grandparents who left them. *Someone’s mother on Westside Road was going to contact her daughter after she became worried when she couldn’t reach her by phone.
