Page 4 Illinois Valley News, Cave Junction, OR Wednesday, April 13, 2005 Sewer costs CJ concern Pushing pooh uphill doesn’t come cheap. But adequate sewer ser- vice for anticipated housing developments on W. Schumacher Street is neces- sary, and in this case the cost must be borne upfront by developers. That item was considered by the Cave Junction City Council Monday night, April 11 in city hall. These considerations, plus an agreement among the three developers concerned to coordinate efforts and share the development of that sec- tion of sewer, prompted the council to consider establish- ing an “Advance Financing District.” The district would en- compass the properties in question, and allow develop- ers to recapture some of their initial outlay from subsequent infrastructure users. The council plans to con- duct a hearing on formation of the proposed special dis- trict during its regular meeting Monday night, May 9 in city hall. ~ Michelle Binker Melvin Mizejewski Kerby resident Melvin Deuane Mizejewski, 57, died March 31, 2005 at the Veter- ans Administration Hospital in Portland. The Gospel acclamation from verse 14 reads, “I am the good shepherd,” says the Lord; “I know my sheep and mine know me.” Good Shepherd Lutheran Pastor Rory Scott’s Sun- day message dealt with the value of material items in our lives and what is, or should be, of ultimate value to us: the ransom paid by Christ’s crucifixion. How do we demonstrate that our lives are truly valu- able? Do we care for others? Do we follow the Bible’s teachings? Do we nurture our family relationships?
