Page 7 Illinois Valley News, Cave Junction, OR Wednesday, October 13, 2004 CJ resident in accident vs. deputy A Jackson County sheriff’s patrol car chasing a stolen vehicle collided with a Cave Junction woman’s pickup truck, fouling traffic at the inter- section of Table Rock and Biddle roads. Deputy Gordon Crisp ran the intersection’s red light on Wednesday, Oct. 6 heading south on Table Rock into Medford, offi- cials said. His vehicle’s lights and sirens were on, but 50- year-old Arlene Couch said that she didn’t see or hear the deputy’s green- and-white car until it was too late. Couch’s red GMC pickup truck smashed into the rear passenger end of Crisp’s Crown Victoria. Crisp was not injured. The airbags in Couch’s vehicle gouged two deep scratches on her right fore- arm. “I was just going with the flow,” said Couch. “I wasn’t speeding,” she said, adding that she thought police weren’t supposed to conduct high-speed chases because they’re dangerous. Other deputies stopped the stolen vehicle. The accident was be- ing investigated by Oregon State Police. Crisp is the third dep- uty this year caught in a collision while responding to an emergency call. -By Medford’ Mail Tribune’ The most incomprehen- sible thing about the world is that it is not at all comprehensible. - Albert Einstein - JOINT gets meth, weed A rural Grants Pass man and a woman were arrested on methampheta- mine and marijuana charges Tuesday, Oct. 5, said Josephine Interagency Narcotics Team (JOINT).
