Illinois Valley News, Cave Junction, OR Wednesday, March 31, 2004 Page 4 David W. Gilmore Jr. David W. Gilmore Jr. has been promoted to chief master sergeant in the U.S. Air Force. Gilmore is the superin- tendent of patient admini- stration and health services management functions as- signed to the 60th Medical Support Squadron, Travis Air Force Base, Fairfield, Calif. He is the son of David Jean C. Mohr Cave Junction resident Jean Carol Mohr, 70, died Thursday, March 25, 2004 at home. A service and burial will take place at Chapel Hills Garden Cemetery in Elmhurst, Ill., next to her husband, Robert J. Mohr. Mrs. Mohr was born in Chicago, Ill. and moved to Cave Junction in 1997. She was married in 1952 in DuPage County, Ill. She was a member of Elmhurst Lutheran Church. Survivors are her daughter, Sheri Weinstein, of West Palm Beach, Fla.; a son, Steven Mohr, Cave Junction; 10 grandchildren, and four great- grandchildren. A son, Mi- chael Mohr, died in 1980. Robert F. ‘Bob’ Morse Robert Morse, 81, of Cave Junction, died on Sunday, Nov. 30, 2003. He was buried at the military cemetery in Eagle Point on Dec. 29, 2003. Mr. Morse, who also was known as “Bob,” was born on Sept. 26, 1922 in Los Angeles. He was the youngest of three children. He married his high- school sweetheart, Betty, in 1942. Shortly thereafter, he joined the U.S. Navy and was shipped to the South Pacific. He served aboard two destroyers dur- ing his three-year stint in the Navy. When he returned to L.A., Mr. Morse worked as a machinist and mechanic for the city police. He pur- chased a fishing boat, and soon changed careers. He commercially fished for albacore and deep water rock cod, and ran fishing charters. His fishing career spanned 20 years. Mr. Morse moved to Cave Junction in 1974. He founded an excavation business from which he retired in 1989. Mr. Morse loved the great outdoors, and had a passion for ocean fishing. He gave freely of his time and was loved by many. He had numerous friends, young and old. He is survived by his wife, Betty Lee Morse; two sons, Stan and Bruce; two sisters, Dorothy Gil- more and Helen Blanco; three grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. The chief graduated in 1979 from Cerritos High School, and received two associate degrees; in 1999 from Community College of the Air Force, and in 2000 from Hawaii Pacific University, Honolulu. St. Patrick of the Forest Catholic Church Sunday, April 4 at 9 a.m., the church will cele- brate Palm Sunday of the Lord’s Passion, which re- plays Christ’s entrance in to Jerusalem to accomplish the Paschal Mystery of his death and resurrection. Prior to the Mass, there will be a solemn pro- cession by the faithful car- rying palm branches into the church while singing a special hymn. The Gospel reading will be “The Passion of the Lord” from Luke’s Gospel, Chapter 23. The faithful will have an active part in the reading by responding Pull it over!!
