Page 9 Illinois Valley News, Cave Junction, OR Wednesday, March 17, 2004 Cash scam warning by RCC given An honor society induction was held at LBMS (Photo and story by Shane Welsh) LBMS students gain honor society The National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) inducted new members at Lorna Byrne Middle School (LBMS) on Mon- day night, March 16. NJHS was established in 1929 to recognize out- standing students in junior high and middle schools. The LBMS chapter was granted its charter on May 24, 1976. Students were selected by the faculty for demon- strated ability in service, scholarship, leadership, citizenship and character. Illinois Valley High School student Jenna Lorensen addressed the Junior inductees with an inspirational speech. LBMS student Sara Austin sang, “The Star Spangled Banner,” to the delight of the large crowd gathered in the gym. Rogue Community College received a report recently that one or more persons have been going door-to-door in Jackson County soliciting dona- tions for an “RCC cash contest.” “Rogue Community College is not conducting a door-to-door survey, con- test, or campaign of any kind,” said Margaret Brad- ford, director of Marketing and Community Relations. “If someone comes to the door selling anything or soliciting donations, please call the Medford Police Department.” Contact Bradford at (541) 956-7088.
