Her college plans in- clude a degree in business management because when (not if) she becomes a re- nowned professional, she wants to be able to ex- pertly direct the business side. “I’ve done benefit con- certs,” she said, “including working with a radio sta- tion at the county fair. The funny thing is that I can face an audience of 600 people -- people I don’t know -- but don’t ask me to sing at school, because those are people I do know.” However, she has sung the “Star-Spangled Banner” at the opening of some school activities in the gym. “As far as my favorite types of music; I like coun- try tunes mostly, but I’d like to get involved with Latino compositions be- cause of my family back- ground. And, “Singing is some- thing I love.” She and her family moved to the valley 10 years ago from Chico, Calif., when she was in second grade. “They all support me and are really excited about the possibili- ties for me,” she said. “When I first started singing in public, my voice would shake,” she said. “I was worried about what they were thinking, but I’ve gotten over that, and now I’m into it. “I am extremely appre- ciative of my boyfriend, Jesse Lorentz, for really supporting me, and being there for me. There are a lot of things I couldn’t have done without him, and I love him. “Mostly I want to thank my parents for car- ing and supporting me the way they have. They will do anything to see that I am happy, and that I suc- ceed in life.
