GIRLS LOSE HEARTBREAKER - Illinois Valley girls lost to Lakeview 57-55 in a nail-
biter that came down to the last two seconds during an intense state playoff game
on Friday night, Feb. 27 in Ken Mann Memorial Gym. The Cougars went into the
game as #3 in the Skyline Conference having won nine of its last 10 games. But with
the loss, the Honkers earned the right to go to state. I.V. finished the season 10-4 in
the Skyline, 18-7 overall. I.V.’s Kim Hamilton scored a game-high 29 points and had
tied the game 53-53 with 55 seconds on the clock before Lakeview scored 2 with two
seconds left. Emily Dudley and Serena Barry each netted 8 points for the Cougars.
Besides Hamilton, the contest marked the last game for I.V. seniors Nicole Hendrick-
son, Lacey Madden and Kelsi Snook.
