The owner of the house at 1420 Lakeshore Drive, Michael Metcalf Jr., was away when the fire occurred. Neighbors spotted a flicker of flames coming from the base of the house at approximately 9 p.m. and phoned 911. According to Division Chief Joe Feldhaus of Illi- nois Valley Fire District, the owner apparently left a kerosene heater running unattended in the lower level of the residence when it fell and ignited the floor. The flames consumed two rooms of the upper level of the house before fire crews contained the flames. It took firefighters a little more than two hours to fully control the blaze with 20 volunteers and eight pieces of equipment to assist. -Shane Welsh MONDAYS & TUESDAYS Hot Lunch - 11:30 - 12:30 Harvest Kitchen at St. Matthias 25904 Redwood Highway (North end of Cave Junction) (Doors open at 11 a.m.) TUESDAYS 1 p.m. Food Distribution at Seventh-day Adventist Church 265 S.
